Raptors sign forward Justin Champagnie to multi-year contract TORONTO — The Toronto Raptors have signed forward Justin Champagnie to a multi-year contract.

Upgraded from two-way deal Champagnie (thumb) agreed Thursday with the Raptors on a two-year contract for the league minimum, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports.

Impact According to Smith, Champagnie will be upgraded from the two-way deal he played under as a rookie in 2021-22 to a new contract that includes a partial guarantee for 2022-23 and no guarantee for 2023-24. Champagnie's stint in the Las Vegas Summer League was recently cut short due to a small left thumb fracture, but the injury probably isn't anything that will affect his availability for training camp. In 36 games for the Raptors last season, Champagnie averaged 2.3 points and 2.0 rebounds in 7.8 minutes per contest.

Dealing with thumb injury Champagnie is in a brace following a thumb injury and is out for Saturday's Summer League game against the 76ers, Eric Koreen of The Athletic reports.

Impact Koreen speculates that Champagnie will likely be out over the next few days, so it's possible he doesn't play in the remainder of Summer League. There's nothing to indicate he won't be ready for training camp.

Impact Champagnie and fellow rookie Dalano Banton will rejoin the NBA team as it opens its second-half schedule with a game Friday in Charlotte. Prior to the All-Star break, Champagnie had been firmly outside of head coach Nick Nurse's rotation, appearing in only two of Toronto's first nine games of February while logging eight minutes in total.
