Victor Oladipo - Could increase workouts soonOladipo (knee) is expected to begin intensifying his workouts next week after reaching the six-month mark in his recovery from his April 28 surgery to address a torn left patellar...
ImpactThe Rockets acquired Oladipo along with Jeremiah Robinson-Earl -- who has since been waived -- in the Oct. 17 deal that sent Kevin Porter and two future second-round draft picks to the Thunder. Though the Rockets made the deal mainly for the purpose of ridding themselves of Porter's contract, Oladipo's spot on Houston's 15-man roster appears to be secure as he continues his recovery from another major knee injury. The 31-year-old could still be a candidate to be moved elsewhere at a later date, as his expiring $9.5 million contract could become useful around the Feb. 8 trade deadline if Houston needs to match salary in a larger deal. For the time being, however, Oladipo will conduct his rehab under the Rockets' supervision, but he's still likely multiple weeks away from being ready to play in games.

Jock Landale - Suffers concussionLandale is out for Friday's game versus the Spurs while in the league's concussion protocol.
ImpactIt's unclear when Landale suffered his concussion, but it will keep him out of Friday's contest. Boban Marjanovic will likely serve as the backup center to Alperen Sengun in his absence. Landale's next chance to suit up is Sunday's matchup with Golden State.

Chuma Okeke - Secures three reboundsOkeke finished Wednesday's 116-86 win over the Rockets with zero points (0-1 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and three rebounds over five minutes.
ImpactOkeke saw some minutes off the bench in Wednesday's blowout win and was unable to connect on his lone field-goal attempt. He averaged 4.7 points and 3.6 rebounds in 19.2 minutes per game over 27 appearances last year, and it seems as though he'll struggle to find consistent playing time once again during the 2023-24 campaign.

Jalen Suggs - Limited results in openerSuggs had eight points (3-12 FG, 2-7 3Pt) and four rebounds over 21 minutes during Wednesday's 116-86 victory over Houston.
ImpactSuggs and the rest of Orlando's starters didn't see excessive playing time during Wednesday's regular-season opener, but it was discouraging to see the 2021 first-rounder open the year with an inefficient performance from the floor. He averaged 9.9 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 23.5 minutes per game last year and should be able to handle a relatively similar role this season, but it's possible rookie Anthony Black pushes for playing time at some point despite logging just five minutes Wednesday.
