What a Run! 25-2 Blitz Leads Lakers to Win vs Rockets
11 months ago
Jarred Vanderbilt - Minimal role in season debutVanderbilt (heel) played 14 minutes and finished with zero points (0-2 FG, 0-2 3Pt), four rebounds and one assist in Saturday's 107-97 win over the Rockets.
ImpactVanderbilt was cleared to make his season debut Saturday after sitting out the Lakers' first 20 games while recovering from a left heel injury he sustained early in training camp. The 24-year-old finished the 2022-23 campaign as a starter in the frontcourt alongside Anthony Davis, but Vanderbilt may have to settle for a bench role if the Lakers prefer to support Davis and LeBron James with more shooting.

Dillon Brooks - Keeps head down in lossBrooks produced 10 points (4-9 FG, 2-4 3Pt), two rebounds and one assist across 33 minutes during Saturday's 107-97 loss to the Lakers.
ImpactBrooks' beef with LeBron James is well-documented, but a brutal stare-down from James after a made bucket was the only evidence of the conflict during Saturday's game. Brooks continues to deal with nagging injuries, and although he's put up a few good totals, he's far from consistent. His 13.2 points per game is on pace to be his second-worst career point total despite converting a career-best 47.9 percent of his shots.

Jabari Smith Jr. - Sniffs double-double in lossSmith logged 10 points (4-7 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), nine rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two steals across 30 minutes during Saturday's 107-97 loss to the Lakers.
ImpactSmith came up one rebound shy of a double-double in the loss. Smith's usage has taken a massive leap forward this season, and he's besting his rookie totals convincingly. Over 17 games, the Auburn product is averaging 13.3 points and 7.8 rebounds.

Alperen Sengun - Records double-double in lossSengun recorded 21 points (8-25 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 13 rebounds, five assists, two blocks and two steals in 34 minutes during Saturday's 107-97 loss to the Lakers.
ImpactSengun logged his fifth double-double of the season, which is impressive considering Anthony Davis' massive total. The 2021 first-round pick is Houston's most consistent producer and is one of the most underrated big men in the league, but he needs more from his supporting cast to keep Houston competitive.
DECEMBER 3, 2023ROTOWIRE
Austin Reaves - Solid total from benchReaves finished with 18 points (6-11 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 5-6 FT), four rebounds, one assist and three steals over 22 minutes during Saturday's 107-97 win over the Rockets.
ImpactReaves looked more like the 2022-23 version of himself Saturday, making shots all over the floor during the win. He also looked great last Thursday and had put up several double-digit totals with the second unit, but coach Darvin Han doesn't seem ready to put Reaves back in the starting lineup yet. Taurean Prince isn't playing well enough to keep Reaves on the bench, so a change may come sooner rather than later.

Anthony Davis - Dominates in victoryDavis registered 27 points (10-22 FG, 7-9 FT), 14 rebounds, three assists and five blocks in 37 minutes during Saturday's 107-97 victory over the Rockets.
ImpactDavis extended his double-double streak to nine games Saturday. When Davis is healthy, there are few players who can contain him, and although he has some lingering hip pain, you wouldn't know it from his totals. Only Nikola Jokic sports a higher rebound average then Davis, who is averaging 12.5 boards per game.
