GAME LOG

Jalen Green - Iffy against Portland Green (illness) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game versus the Trail Blazers.
Impact Green is in danger of missing his first game of the season Wednesday after missing Tuesday's practice with a non-COVID illness. If Green is unable to suit, Amen Thompson and Aaron Holiday would be candidates to receive increased playing time.
JANUARY 23, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Tari Eason - Puts in partial practice Rockets head coach Ime Udoka said Eason (lower leg) was a partial participant in Tuesday's practice, Adam Spolane of Sports Radio 610 Houston reports.
Impact While Eason still seems likely to miss a 12th straight game Wednesday versus the Trail Blazers due to left lower leg injury management, the second-year forward's ability to practice in some fashion offers hope that he's closing in on a return to game action. Even if Eason remains out Wednesday, he'll have a good chance at suiting up Friday in Charlotte if he's able to put in a full practice Thursday. Eason's eventual return will likely leave fewer minutes available at forward for Cam Whitmore and Jae'Sean Tate.

Jalen Green - Dealing with illness Green was unable to practice Tuesday because of an illness, Adam Spolane of Sports Radio 610 Houston reports.
Impact Green's status for Wednesday's game against Portland is undetermined, potentially jeopardizing his perfect attendance thus far. Fred VanVleet is on track to return following a one-game absence due to back soreness, joining an otherwise healthy Rockets' backcourt.
JANUARY 23, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Jeff Green - On track for Wednesday Green (calf) participated in Tuesday's practice and is expected to suit up Wednesday versus Portland, Ben DuBose of USA Today reports.
Impact Green is amid a one-game absence due to left calf soreness. Coach Ime Udoka noted that Green, Jabari Smith (ankle) and Fred VanVleet (back) are all trending in the right direction for Wednesday's contest, while Jalen Green (illness) did not practice Tuesday.
JANUARY 23, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Fred VanVleet - Returns to practice VanVleet (back) was able to practice on Tuesday, Coty M. Davis of SI.com reports.
Impact Jabari Smith (ankle) was also able to practice, and that bodes well for their status ahead of Wednesday's game versus Portland. Fantasy managers can expect another update when the Rockets release their injury report Tuesday evening. If VanVleet is cleared, Amen Thompson will likely return to the second unit for Houston.
JANUARY 23, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Jabari Smith Jr. - Goes through practice Smith (ankle) was able to practice on Tuesday, Adam Spolane of Sports Radio 610 Houston reports.
Impact Smith was held out of Sunday's game against Boston, but it appears that he's on track to return for Wednesday's game versus Portland. There should be more clarity when the Rockets release their injury report Tuesday evening. Cam Whitmore started in Smith's place Sunday, but he wasn't very effective with five points in 27 minutes.

Celtics provide another teachable moment for young, burgeoning Rockets Injuries forced the Rockets' rookies to spend time trying to stop Boston's dynamic duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
JANUARY 22, 2024 • THEATHLETIC.COM
Dillon Brooks - Scores 23 points in loss Brooks supplied 25 points (8-23 FG, 5-15 3Pt, 4-5 FT), five rebounds, one assist and four steals over 40 minutes during Sunday's 116-107 loss to Boston.
Impact Even though Brooks needed 23 shots to score 25 points, the veteran wing posted a solid fantasy stat line in a game where he also had to deal with guarding one of the best offenses in the NBA. Brooks has scored in double digits in four of his last five appearances since returning from an oblique injury earlier this month, but at the same time, this was just his fifth game with 20 or more points in 2023-24.
JANUARY 22, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Alperen Sengun - First triple-double of season Sengun produced 24 points (10-18 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 12 rebounds, 10 assists and one steal across 36 minutes during Sunday's 116-107 loss to Boston.
Impact Sengun posted his first triple-double of the season and delivered a statement performance against one of the best teams in The Association, showing an efficient touch from the field, energy on the glass and top-notch vision as a playmaker. Sengun has posted a double-double or triple-double in four of his last five outings, and he's Houston's main fantasy option by a wide margin in a season in which he's settled as one of the most productive big men in the league.
JANUARY 22, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Amen Thompson - Double-double with 14 boards Thompson recorded 15 points (5-10 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 5-6 FT), 14 rebounds, five assists and one steal in 32 minutes during Sunday's 116-107 loss to the Celtics.
Impact Thompson was active on the glass in what was the first start of his NBA career, and even though the Rockets came up short against the Celtics, Thompson showed strong qualities and above-average two-way instincts. His role in the short term will be tied to Fred VanVleet's availability, as the veteran guard was sidelined Sunday due to back soreness, meaning Thompson could remain in the starting lineup to face the Trail Blazers on Wednesday if VanVleet can't recover in time.

Amen Thompson - Set to start Sunday Thompson is in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against Boston, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact Thompson starts with Fred VanVleet sidelined due to back soreness. The rookie's defensive presence and playmaking will be tested against a formidable Boston lineup, getting the first start of his NBA career alongside Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, Cam Whitmore and Alperen Sengun.
JANUARY 21, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Cam Whitmore - Will make first career start Whitmore will start Sunday's game against the Celtics, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact With Fred VanVleet (back) and Jabari Smith (ankle) out, Whitmore and Amen Thompson will start alongside Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks and Alperen Sengun. It's Whitmore's first career start, but when he's played 20-plus minutes (four games), Whitmore has averaged 17.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 0.8 blocks in 27.8 minutes per game this season.

Victor Oladipo - Out indefinitely Oladipo (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Celtics and remains out indefinitely.
Impact There is no timetable for Oladipo's return. He has yet to make his season debut while he recovers from a left patellar tendon issue following offseason knee surgery.
JANUARY 21, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Jeff Green - Won't play Sunday Green is out Sunday against Boston.
Impact Green is dealing with left calf soreness. The 37-year-old will miss just his second game of the season and first since Dec. 6. Green has averaged 5.6 points and 2.6 rebounds in 15.4 minutes per game across his last five appearances, and that vacated role will likely be assumed by a combination of Cam Whitmore and Jae'Sean Tate on Sunday.
JANUARY 21, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Reggie Bullock - Remains out Sunday Bullock (back) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Celtics.
Impact Bullock will miss a third straight game due to lower-back pain. He's just one of a handful of regulars sidelined for the second half of a back-to-back set, so rookies Cam Whitmore and Amen Thompson are candidates for increased roles on the wing. Bullock's next chance to play will come Wednesday versus Portland.
JANUARY 21, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Fred VanVleet - Inactive Sunday VanVleet will miss Sunday's contest against Boston due to lower back tightness
Impact VanVleet logged a full 34-minute workload in Saturday's win over Utah and completed the contest without an in-game injury designation, but he will nonetheless be inactive Sunday. He joins an injury-riddled cast of Rockets, including Jabari Smith (ankle), Tari Eason (leg), Jeff Green (calf) and Reggie Bullock (back), with Aaron Holiday and Amen Thompson poised to step up in the backcourt.
JANUARY 21, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Jabari Smith Jr. - Inactive Sunday Smith will not play Sunday against Boston due to a sprained left ankle.
Impact Smith rolled his ankle late in the fourth quarter of Saturday's win over Utah, and the injury will sideline him Monday. He'll have until a showdown against Portland on Wednesday to heal, but Houston's frontcourt, already lacking Tari Eason (leg) and Jeff Green (calf), will be thin in his absence. Cam Whitmore and Jae'Sean Tate could be leaned on, while more minutes are available for Amen Thompson as well.
JANUARY 21, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Jermaine Samuels Jr. - Recalled to Houston Houston recalled Samuels from the G League's Rio Grande Vipers on Sunday, Adam Wexler of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.
Impact Samuels will be called up alongside Nate Hinton in advance of Sunday's game against Boston. Samuels profiles as end-of-bench frontcourt depth for the Rockets.
JANUARY 21, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Nate Hinton - Promoted to Houston Houston recalled Hinton from the G League's Rio Grande Vipers on Sunday, Adam Wexler of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.
Impact Hinton joins the Rockets in advance of Sunday's contest versus Boston, although he hasn't logged NBA action since a blowout victory over Dallas on Dec. 22. That being said, Houston closes a back-to-back set on Sunday, so Hinton could see a minor role, especially since Tari Eason (leg) is out and Jabari Smith (ankle) is banged up.
