Trail Blazers beat Lakers 122-108 despite Reaves' 41 points

Deni Avdija scored 25, Jrue Holiday had 24 points and six assists, and the Portland Trail Blazers pulled away from the short-handed Los Angeles Lakers 122-108
OCTOBER 28 • Associated Press
Paces Portland in win Avdija totaled 25 points (8-17 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four rebounds, four assists, three blocks and one steal across 32 minutes in Monday's 122-108 win over the Lakers.
Impact Avdija turned in a well-rounded performance Monday, leading the Trail Blazers in scoring with five three-pointers while adding a combined four steals and blocks. The forward has opened the season on fire, reaching or surpassing 20 points in each of Portland's first four games after averaging 16.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists across 72 regular-season contests last year.
OCTOBER 28 • ROTOWIRE
Nets 23 points with full line Avdija notched 23 points (7-16 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 6-7 FT), seven rebounds, five assists and one steal over 33 minutes during Sunday's 114-107 loss to the Clippers.
Impact Avdija has picked up right where he left off last season, operating as the main man in Portland's offense with a career-high usage rate of 27.9. It's been a career-best start for the 25-year-old forward, who is averaging 23.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.3 triples and 3.3 turnovers per contest with 48/37/82 shooting splits, and he's showing no signs of slowing down.

Clippers beat Portland 114-107 in the Trail Blazers' 2nd game since Billups' arrest

Kawhi Leonard had 30 points and 10 rebounds and the Los Angeles Clippers beat Portland 114-107 on Sunday night in the Trail Blazers’ second game since head coach Chauncey Billups w...

Leads charge in big win Friday Avdija finished with 26 points (11-18 FG, 4-6 3Pt), five rebounds and six assists in 29 minutes during Friday's 139-119 victory over the Warriors.
Impact Eight different Portland players scored in double digits in the rout, with Avdija leading the way. It was an impressive all-around performance by the team in its first game under interim head coach Thiago Splitter, but it remains to be seen how the off-court turmoil surrounding Chauncey Billups will affect the Blazers in the long run. Avdija appears ready to build on his 2024-25 breakout regardless of who's in charge, though, scoring at least 20 points in back-to-back games to begin the current campaign.

Posts 20 points in narrow loss Avdija posted 20 points (6-16 FG, 0-6 3Pt, 8-10 FT), seven rebounds, one assist and one block in 33 minutes during Wednesday's 118-114 loss to the Timberwolves.
Impact Avdija got off to a fast start with seven points in the first quarter, but his numbers dipped a bit when he shared the court with Jerami Grant, who had a standout game from the bench. The two were locked n a timeshare before Grant's season-ending knee injury, and although Grant started in every game he participated in last season, Avdija and Toumani Camara are projected to oust him from the first unit. Avdija is definitely deserving of a starting position due to his apt scoring and encouraging rebound totals.

Trail Blazers ink extensions and set opening night lineup

The Portland Trail Blazers have exercised their team options on contract extensions for guard Scoot Henderson, forward Kris Murray and center Donovan Clingan
OCTOBER 21 • Associated Press
Will play and start vs. Minnesota Avdija (back) has been cleared to play against the Timberwolves on Wednesday, Sean Highkin of Rip City Radio 620 Portland reports.
Impact After practicing fully Monday, Avdija will be in the first five for the team's season opener. The 24-year-old forward will be joined by Jrue Holiday, Shaedon Sharpe, Toumani Camara (knee) and Donovan Clingan to get the 2025-26 campaign underway.
OCTOBER 21 • ROTOWIRE
Back at practice Avdija (back) practiced fully Monday, Sean Highkin of Rip City Radio 620 Portland reports.
Impact The forward left Thursday's preseason game against the Jazz due to upper back stiffness. However, he was back on the floor Monday, which bodes well for his status in the season opener Wednesday against Minnesota.
OCTOBER 20 • ROTOWIRE
Blazers are clearly winning big on the trade everyone thought was reckless One year later, it's clear the Portland Trail Blazers polarizing trade with the Washington Wizards for Deni Avdija has already paid off.
OCTOBER 19 • RIPCITYPROJECT.COM
Won't return Thursday Avdija has been ruled out for the rest of Thursday's preseason game against the Jazz due to upper back stiffness.
Impact Avdija didn't start the second half, and the team announced shortly after that he wouldn't return to the exhibition. Look for Kris Murray and Shaedon Sharpe to see an increase in minutes with Avdija shut down the rest of the way.
OCTOBER 17 • ROTOWIRE
Scores 15 in preseason loss Avdija finished with 15 points (5-11 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and one steal over 27 minutes in Tuesday's 118-111 preseason loss to the Warriors.
Impact Avdija had a mixed outing Tuesday, committing five turnovers and five fouls but still delivering well-rounded production across the board. The wing averaged 16.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.0 steals in 30.0 minutes over 72 regular-season games (54 starts) last season, and he'll look to build on that foundation in his second year with the Trail Blazers.

OCTOBER 15 • YOUTUBE
Poats 15 points in starting role Avdija produced 15 points (4-9 FG, 6-6 FT, 1-3 3Pt), six rebounds and two assists over 23 minutes in Friday's 124-123 preseason win over the Kings.
Impact Avdija was back in the starting lineup, which is where he's projected to be when the season begins. Although Jerami Grant will be vying for time at the position, the veteran doesn't fit as well into Portland's youth-focused plans, and the team has already invested a lot of capital to retain Avdija. Right now, the job appears to be his to lose.
OCTOBER 11 • ROTOWIRE
Starting Friday Avdija is in the starting lineup for Friday's exhibition against the Kings, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
Impact Avdija is getting the start ahead of Jerami Grant in this one, which suggests that Grant is headed for a rest day. Joining Avdija in the starting unit will be Jrue Holiday, Shaedon Sharpe, Toumani Camara and Donovan Clingan.
