Cooper Flagg - Headed for further evaluation Head coach Dusty May said Flagg (shoulder) will be evaluated in the next couple of days, Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Impact Flagg can presumably be ruled out for Saturday's game against San Antonio after leaving Friday's win over Indiana and not returning. The star forward was hit while in the air and took a hard fall, landing on his left shoulder. With Flagg sidelined, Naji Marshall, Zaccharie Risacher and Marcus Sasser are candidates for increased burn.

Kyrie Irving - Will be on minutes restriction Friday Irving (knee) will be on a minutes restriction in Friday's game against the Pacers, Tony East of Forbes.com reports.

Impact Irving will suit up for the front end of this back-to-back set, though he'll see limited playing time. As a result, Marcus Sasser could pick up a few extra minutes. Over 24 minutes in Wednesday's season-opening loss to Houston, Irving posted 15 points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal.

Daniel Gafford - Swats two shots in loss Gafford totaled two points (0-1 FG, 2-4 FT), three rebounds, two blocks, one assist and one steal across 22 minutes during Wednesday's 128-110 loss to the Rockets.

Impact Gafford didn't offer much on the offensive end in Dallas' season-opening loss. However, the big man did record a game-high mark in blocks while chipping in a steal. He figures to operate as Dallas' starting center for now, though the eventual returns of Santi Aldama (knee) and Dereck Lively (foot) will likely eat into Gafford's playing time.

Impact Washington didn't deliver his most efficient shooting performance but was still one of five Mavericks players to score in double figures. He also tied for third on the team in rebounds. The 28-year-old forward should continue playing a steady role for Dallas in 2026-27.

The star point guard wasn't very aggressive hunting his shot, though he didn't miss an attempt from inside the arc and finished as Dallas' fourth-leading scorer. The 34-year-old also tied for third on the team in rebounds.

Impact Marshall wasn't very productive from three-point range but turned in a solid performance from inside the arc. He finished as the Mavericks' third-leading scorer while pacing the club in assists. After starting 47 of his 74 regular-season appearances in 2025-26, Marshall figures to operate as one of Dallas' first men off the bench this season.

Zaccharie Risacher - Records five steals in loss Risacher ended Wednesday's 128-110 loss to Houston with four points (2-7 FG, 0-4 3Pt), six rebounds, two assists and five steals over 27 minutes.

Impact Risacher salvaged what was otherwise a disappointing performance, recording a career-high five steals. The jury is still out when it comes to Risacher's projected value, although most are beginning to lose patience. He will get an opportunity to turn things around in Dallas, but will need to offer more on the offensive end, should he wish to play a consistent role. Assuming the steals are more of an anomaly than a regular occurrence, he remains a stream-level player only at this point.
