Solid in return to lineup McCollum (lung/personal) ended Monday's 98-88 victory over the Magic with 16 points (7-13 FG, 2-4 3Pt), two assists, one rebound, one block and one steal across 28 minutes.

Impact McCollum missed the last 18 games while recovering from a pneumothorax while also taking time off to observe the birth of his child, but he was efficient Monday in his return from a lengthy layoff. He had a light minutes cap Monday, but the veteran guard shouldn't face any restrictions moving forward and is likely to take on more facilitating duties over the next few weeks in the absence of Damian Lillard (abdomen).

Impact As expected, McCollum will officially make his return from the collapsed lung that's kept him out since early December. Because he's missed the last 18 games, coach Chauncey Billups indicated McCollum will face a minutes restriction, but just how long of a leash the veteran guard will have remains to be seen. With Damian Lillard (abdomen) sidelined for several more weeks, McCollum should function as the Blazers' top offensive option once he's back up to speed.

Impact Holdahl suggests that while McCollum is poised to make his return to the Portland lineup for the first time since Dec. 4, the 30-year-old will most likely face some sort of minutes restriction. After he was diagnosed in December with a pneumothorax, McCollum has since made a full recovery, but he's still presumably behind the rest of his healthy teammates from a conditioning standpoint. He could need a few games to fully ramp up before he's deemed ready to handle the 35.3 minutes per game he had been averaging prior to his shutdown. With Damian Lillard (abdomen) likely out for at least the next two months, McCollum should see an uptick in playmaking and scoring opportunities compared to earlier in the season.

Return expected Monday McCollum (conditioning) is expected to return Monday against the Magic, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Impact McCollum suffered a collapsed lung Dec. 4 against the Celtics and hasn't played since. However, after being away lately due to the birth of his son and ramping up his conditioning, McCollum will make his return Monday. The Blazers are extremely shorthanded, so his presence will be more than welcome, and he could see much higher usage than usual.
