Demoted from starting unit Saraf won't start Sunday's game against the 76ers, C.J. Holmes of the New York Daily News reports.

Impact Saraf started at point guard in each of his first five NBA games, but the rookie was held scoreless twice in his last three appearances. Tyrese Martin will start at point guard, with Saraf and fellow rookie Egor Demin competing for backup minutes.

Fails to score in start Saraf provided zero points (0-2 FG, 0-2 3Pt), two rebounds and one assist over 12 minutes during Wednesday's 117-112 loss to Atlanta.

Impact Saraf started for the fifth straight game to open the season, failing to score for the second time in the past three games. Despite the starting tag, Saraf has been anything but when it comes to production. He has scored a total of 16 points thus far, adding two three-pointers and two steals. He should not be on any rosters outside of very deep formats.

Dishes career high five assists Saraf was not able to score (0-4 FG, 0-2 3Pt) in Sunday's 118-107 loss to San Antonio but added five assists, a rebound and a steal across 15 minutes.

Impact Saraf was able to reach an early career high in assists despite not scoring. While he has drawn the start at point guard over fellow rookie Egor Demin, it is worth noting that Demin has played more minutes and scored more points in all three games to start the season thus far.

Looks good in debut Saraf registered eight points (2-7 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 4-6 FT), seven rebounds and four assists in 20 minutes during Wednesday's 136-117 loss to Charlotte.

Impact Saraf drew the start at point guard for Opening Night and showcased some solid upside despite some struggles shooting the ball. The bad news for Saraf is that Egor Demin was even more impressive, finishing with 14 points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal in 22 minutes. Although both players are in a heated battle for playing time, it's fair to wonder if they will get the chance to play alongside each other as well in what is going to be a developmental season for the team.

OCTOBER 23 • ROTOWIRE

Starting vs. Hornets Saraf is starting Wednesday's season opener against the Hornets, Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.com reports.

Impact The rookie first-rounder will get the nod over Egor Demin for Opening Night. Saraf and Demin will likely remain in a heated competition for the starting job going forward.

Starting preseason finale Saraf will start Friday's preseason finale against the Raptors.

Impact Saraf will replace Nolan Traore, who started Brooklyn's previous two preseason games. Fellow rookie Egor Demin is also available to make his preseason debut and will see minutes at point guard.

Impact The rookie point guard flashed some impressive distribution skills, as no other player in the game managed more than five assists in the contest. Saraf, the 26th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, is beginning to make a strong case to be the Opening Night starter at the point while the Nets wait for eighth overall pick Egor Demin (foot) to get healthy.

Active at foul line off bench Saraf finished with nine points (2-5 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 5-6 FT), one rebound and one steal in 19 minutes during Friday's preseason loss to the Suns.

Impact The Nets took a look at Nolan Traore in the starting lineup Friday, which meant Saraf moved to the second unit. However, Saraf ended up logging more minutes than Traore, and he was also much more active on the offensive end of the floor. Both rookie guards will likely cede the starting spot once Egor Demin (foot) is ready to suit up, but Traore and Saraf remain in a heated competition for a backup role.
