Baylor Scheierman News, Rumors, Updates - Boston Celtics

Slated to start Friday Scheierman is in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Nets, Justin Turpin of WEEI.com reports.

Impact Scheierman will step into the starting lineup with Derrick White (rest) sidelined. The Creighton product will make his third start of the season, having averaged 5.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.0 assists in 26.0 minutes across his previous two starts, both of which came earlier in January.

Retreating to bench Scheierman won't start against the Pistons on Monday.

Impact The second-year swingman got the spot start in Saturday's win over Atlanta due to Payton Pritchard (ankle) being sidelined, but the former will retreat to the second unit Monday with Pritchard back in the lineup. In six appearances off the bench so far this month, Scheierman has averaged 2.8 points and 1.2 rebounds in 9.7 minutes per tilt.

Back with first unit Scheierman is starting Saturday's game against the Hawks, Sean Grande of NBC Sports Boston reports.

Impact Scheierman will make his second start in the last three games, this time due to the absence of Payton Pritchard (ankle). Scheierman didn't do much with his opportunity Monday against the Pacers, finishing the night with two points, three rebounds and two steals in 20 minutes.

Returning to bench Scheierman will come off the bench Thursday against the Heat, Sean Grande of NBC Sports Boston reports.

Impact Scheierman drew a spot start Monday with Jaylen Brown sidelined, but the Creighton product will return to his usual bench role Thursday evening. Scheierman is averaging 2.4 points in 10.3 minutes in his last seven appearances as a reserve.

Starting sans Brown Scheierman will start against the Pacers on Monday, Sean Grande of NBC Sports Boston reports.

Impact The second-year forward will enter the starting five for the first time this season due to Jaylen Brown (back) being sidelined. Scheierman has averaged 3.4 points in 10.6 minutes per game across five appearances in January, though he's likely to see a significant bump in minutes Monday.

Scratches out 10 points Saturday Scheierman provided 10 points (4-5 FG, 2-3 3Pt), two rebounds and two steals in 26 minutes off the bench during Saturday's 100-95 loss to the Spurs.

Impact Hugo Gonzalez got the start at power forward with Sam Hauser (hamstring) unavailable, but it was Scheierman who saw more minutes, with the second-year player using the opportunity to score in double digits for the first time since Nov. 26. It's not clear if Hauser will need to miss any more time, but if he does Scheierman could have some short-term appeal as a DFS punt play.

Shooting woes in win Scheierman finished Friday's 140-122 win over the Pacers with three points (1-4 FG, 1-4 3Pt), five rebounds and one assist over 20 minutes.

Impact Scheierman saw increased run in this one, logging 20-plus minutes for the first time since Dec. 4. However, he was largely unable to capitalize on the opportunity and has now shot just 23.1 percent from the field over his last seven outings. The Celtics have shown they are not afraid to switch up the rotation, though the second-year swingman's struggles don't bode well for his chances of seeing increased playing time on a regular basis.

Fails to score again Monday Scheierman notched zero points (0-2 FG, 0-2 3Pt) and one assist across 15 minutes during Monday's 112-105 loss to Detroit.

Impact Despite playing a handful of extra minutes, Scheierman failed to score for the third straight game. With Sam Hauser suffering an ankle injury, Scheierman was called upon late in the game, although he offered nothing in terms of tangible production. Even if Hauser is to miss time, there is no reason to add Scheierman outside of the deepest leagues.

Decent line in 25 minutes Scheierman closed with five points (2-3 FG, 1-2 3Pt), six rebounds, three assists and three steals across 25 minutes during Thursday's 146-101 victory over Washington.

Impact Scheierman wasn't overly aggressive offensively, but he managed to put together a solid line in the win. Jaylen Brown missed this game with an illness, allowing Scheierman to see extended run with the second unit. Whenever the Celtics are at full strength, it will be tough to rely on Scheierman.

Pops for 13 points in win Scheierman amassed 13 points (5-7 FG, 3-5 3Pt), three rebounds and one assist over 30 minutes before fouling out of Wednesday's 117-114 win over Detroit.

Impact Scheierman tallied double-digit points for just the second time this season, while also logging a season-high 30 minutes. While this was an encouraging performance, it was likely a mere anomaly, seeing as though he had played more than 15 minutes only once in his previous six outings. At best, he should be viewed as a conditional streaming option, if and when the schedule calls for it.

Notches three points Scheierman ended with three points (1-2 FG, 1-2 3Pt), two rebounds and one assist across 13 minutes during Tuesday's 113-99 victory over the Nets.

Impact Boston's forward rotation is still a bit of a mess, but it appears like Sam Hauser, Jordan Walsh and Josh Minott are all still ahead of Scheierman. Across 11 appearances this season, Scheierman has averaged 10.3 minutes per contest.

Catches fire in loss Scheierman posted 17 points (6-7 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds, one assist and two steals over 23 minutes during Saturday's 128-101 loss to the Rockets.

Impact Scheierman scored a season-high 17 points, landing four triples from just five attempts. Up until Saturday, it had been a lean season for Scheierman, scoring a total of just three points across five games. While this was a fine shooting display, don't expect to see him repeat this effort anytime soon.
