2026 NBA DPOY Odds: Can Holmgren, Gobert Challenge Wemby?
Makes all five FGA vs. Toronto Thompson recorded 12 points (5-5 FG, 2-3 FT), four assists, three rebounds and one steal over 19 minutes during Friday's 129-125 preseason win over the Raptors.
Impact It was the second time in four preseason games that Thompson scored in double digits. Entering his fourth year in the league, the 2023 first-rounder is more of a defensive contributor for the Pistons and isn't a threat offensively on a night-to-night basis. Detroit opens its regular season Tuesday against Boston.

Four defensive stats in win Thompson amassed 10 points (5-8 FG, 0-1 FT), three steals, two rebounds, two assists and one block in 18 minutes during Monday's 109-107 preseason win over Phoenix.
Impact Thompson did what he does best, racking up four combined steals and blocks, while also ending as one of five Pistons players to record double-digit scoring. Coming off what was a solid 2025-26 season, all signs point to Thompson playing an even larger role this season. Detroit signed Thompson to a five-year, $155 million deal during the offseason, presumably positioning him to be a huge part of the team's future. Although he has some limitations on the offensive end, Thompson warrants a spot in all fantasy leagues, making for a viable target anywhere after the sixth round, depending on your team's build.

Heavier workload in store Head coach JB Bickerstaff said Thursday the plan is for Thompson to play more this season, per Omari Sankofa II of the Detroit Free Press.
Impact Thompson already averaged a career-high 25.9 minutes per game last regular season, but it sounds like the Pistons are ready to trust him with an even larger workload. His shooting form remains a work in progress -- Thompson has never shot higher than 65 percent from the foul line or 25 percent from deep -- but the swingman has seen his assist and steal totals rise in each of his first three seasons and carries plenty of multi-category upside in the mid-to-late rounds of fantasy drafts.
