AJ Johnson News, Rumors, Updates - New Orleans Pelicans

Traded to Washington Milwaukee traded Johnson to the Wizards on Wednesday, ESPN's Shams Charania reports.

Impact Johnson was moved along with Khris Middleton, with the Wizards sending Kyle Kuzma, Patrick Baldwin and second-round picks the other direction. After making just seven brief appearances with the Bucks, this could be a positive change in scenery for Johnson in terms of opportunity. The No. 23 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, Johnson could earn himself plenty of minutes down the stretch for the rebuilding Wizards, making him a name to watch in deep fantasy leagues.

Productive in return to NBA Johnson registered 13 points (5-12 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, four assists and one steal in 29 minutes during Monday's 125-96 loss to the Thunder.

Impact The 23rd overall pick in the 2024 Draft saw a significant role for the first time in his career with the Bucks sitting all their big names on the second night of a back-to-back, and Johnson was able to deliver solid numbers. OCTOBER 17, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Provides 13 points off the bench Johnson tallied 13 points (5-12 FG, 3-5 3Pt), four rebounds and three assists across 22 minutes In Thursday's 107-102 loss to the Lakers.

Impact Johnson elected to play in Australia rather than commit to Texas, and despite shaky results down under, the Bucks were impressed enough with his combine work to give him a shot. Johnson is likely headed to Milwaukee's G League team as a project for the future. He has a lot of raw talent but his thin and wary frame needs some development. Still, there's merit to Milwaukee's pick when you consider the aging group of guards ahead of him. Antetokounmpo may find himself without a supporting cast in a few years if he chooses to stay in Milwaukee, and a promising guard who is a couple of years from full-time play fits in well with the team's long-term future.
