Tops Long Beach Practice Power led the opening practice for the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach with a top lap of 1:07.6053 in the No. 26 TWG AI Honda of Andretti Global, IndyCar.com reports.

Impact Power continues to get a comfort level with his new Andretti Global team and car. He turned an amazing lap of the Long Beach street circuit and was two-tenths faster than Scott McLaughlin to lead the speed charts. Power is a two-time Long Beach winner and knows the course extremely well. He'll be a top contender Sunday in the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach.

Impact In the second group of the opening round of qualifying, Power would run into big trouble. His Andretti Autosport machine would appear to lose the brakes or malfunction in some way as the veteran driver braked hard for turn 5. Power would lock up and slide through the turn at high speed making hard contact with the barriers. His qualifying session would be over and he'll line up a disappointing 23rd on the grid for Sunday's Alabama Indy Grand Prix.
