Impact The young McLaren driver would start P2 on the grid and give up the spot quickly to Max Verstappen on the opening lap. However, Piastri would work his way back and retake P2 by lap 17 as he was turning impressive and fast laps in the wet conditions. He would hold down second-place until a late rain shower on lap 43 would send both Piastri and his teammate, Lando Norris, spinning off through the grass. Norris would recover quickly but it would take some time for Piastri to regain the track and he'd lose a lot of track position. P9 was the best he could manage on a recovery drive from P15.
