Wins Atlanta Pole Position McDowell won the pole for the Quaker State 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway Saturday afternoon. He turned a fast lap of 179.261mph.

Impact The Front Row Motorsports veteran advanced to the final round of 10 drivers and posted a speed in excess of 179 mph. McDowell comfortably beat out Ryan Blaney to capture the pole position for the Quaker State 400. It was his fifth pole of the season and fifth-career pole. McDowell will challenge for the win Sunday in the Quaker State 400.

Crash and DNF in Daytona McDowell crashed and finished 30th in the Coke Zero Sugar 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway Saturday night.

Impact McDowell led a race-high 34 laps and would be in contention to win. However, a multi-car crash on lap 151 would collect a number of drivers including McDowell. His No. 34 Ford would be sent airborne at one point, however, the veteran driver would be unharmed. The same could not be said for McDowell's car as it would be hauled off to the garage area for the night. It was a disappointing end to what could have been a huge performance and it was McDowell's sixth DNF of the season.

Wins Daytona Pole McDowell won the pole for the Coke Zero Sugar 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway Friday afternoon. He turned a fast lap of 183.165 mph.

Impact It was a front row lockout for Front Row Motorsports Friday at Daytona. McDowell would advance to the final round of qualifying and beat out his teammate, Todd Gilliland, to capture the pole position for the Coke Zero Sugar 400. It was his fourth pole of the season and first-career pole position at Daytona. McDowell will contend for the win Saturday night at Daytona International Speedway.

Impact The Front Row Motorsports veteran continued his recent success on the road courses with a great effort on the streets of Chicago Sunday. McDowell started up front, but would bounce in-and-out of the Top 10 over the course of the race. After the lengthy rain delay the action would get going again and McDowell would work his way back forward. In the closing laps he'd pursue Joey Hand but fall short and finish a strong fifth-place. It was his second Top 5 of the season since finishing runner-up at Sonoma a few weeks ago.
