Will drive for Hendrick in 2028 Zilisch will drive the No. 48 Ally Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports in 2028, the team confirmed on Monday.

Impact This has been a move that was heavily rumored, but it is now finally confirmed. With Alex Bowman set to retire after the 2027 season, Hendrick had been trying to search for the long-term future for its No. 48 car. Zilisch is deemed by many to be a generational prospect and HMS was going to do everything they could to land him. It worked out to where Hendrick will get the rights to Zilisch after his contract with Trackhouse Racing is up at the end of the 2027 season. It should be a seamless transition with Bowman returning next season to help bridge the remainder of that gap to the new era of the No. 48 car. Zilisch will look to keep gaining experience with Trackhouse in the Cup Series the remainder of this season and into the 2027 campaign. He should be fully up to speed with the Gen 7 car by the time he gets behind the wheel of some of the best equipment in the garage in 2028.
