Impact Elliott would be a Top 10 driver for the first half of the race, but he would come on strong in the second half. The Hendrick Motorsports star would surge into the lead and led a race-high 87 laps down the stretch. A late-race caution and restart would add a little suspense but Elliott would hang on by four-tenths over Denny Hamlin at the checkered flag. It was his second win of the season and 23rd-career victory.
