Driving for HMS at Phoenix Alfredo will drive the No. 48 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports in Sunday's Cup Series race at Phoenix Raceway, Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports reports.

Impact Alex Bowman was diagnosed with vertigo this week and will be unable to compete in Sunday's race. Bowman was forced to get out of the car in Stage 3 of last week's race at Circuit of the Americas due to illness. Alfredo is the Hendrick Motorsports sim driver, so he has experience working closely with the team. Alfredo also races full-time in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series for Viking Motorsports. It will be a double-duty weekend for Alfredo and a golden opportunity for him to potentially earn a look in a better seat in 2027 if he runs well this week.

Disqualified for Sunday Alfredo will no longer be racing in Sunday's Daytona 500 NASCAR Cup Series race after his vehicle failed post-race inspection Thursday night, Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports reports.

Impact Alfredo had his finish disallowed after NASCAR discovered a loose transaxle cooling hose, as well as a loose driver cooling hose, per NASCAR Cup Series race director Brad Moran. Nothing was intentional by Alfredo's team and it's very unfortunate news to receive after racing well enough to earn one of the final spots in Sunday's big race. B.J. McLeod will now be taking Alfredo's spot as a result of the disqualification.
