Qualifies well to end 2025 Bortoleto finished 11th in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix F1 race at Yas Marina Circuit on Sunday.
Impact Bortoleto had a promising start to the weekend, reaching Q3 for the first time since the Italian Grand Prix in early September. However, he slipped down the pack after disclosing that he battled bouncing problems throughout the day. That pushed him outside of the points, his fourth consecutive race finishing outside the top 10. While Bortoleto only picked up 19 points for the season, it was still a promising rookie campaign.
DECEMBER 11 • ROTOWIRE
Doomed by grid penalty Bortoleto finished 13th in the Qatar Grand Prix F1 race at Lusail International Circuit on Sunday.
Impact Bortoleto had a fine weekend, but his grand prix was doomed by a five-place grid penalty that carried over from a collision he caused in the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Even after starting 19th on the grid, he managed to recover some track position, though a points finish was never realistic. While it wasn't a terrible showing, Bortoleto has struggled considerably of late, finishing 13th or worse in each of his last three grand prix.
DECEMBER 4 • ROTOWIRE
More mistakes in Vegas Bortoleto was forced to retire from the Las Vegas Grand Prix F1 race at the Las Vegas Strip Circuit on Saturday.
Impact In contrast to his teammate, Bortoleto struggled in rainy conditions during qualifying. He started 18th as a result, and he then immediately collided with Lance Stroll on the opening lap of the grand prix. Bortoleto took responsibility and was also handed a five-place grid penalty, meaning it will also be very difficult for him to contend for points in Qatar. He has moments of brilliance in his rookie season, but the last two grand prix have been forgettable for Bortoleto.
NOVEMBER 26 • ROTOWIRE
Disastrous home race Bortoleto retired on the opening lap of the Brazilian Grand Prix F1 race at Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace on Sunday.
Impact Bortoleto had a tough home race from start to finish. He suffered a huge crash in the sprint race, but thankfully walked away without any significant injury. However, the damage to his car was extensive and excluded him from qualifying. As he tried to pick up ground on the opening lap of race day, he entered Turn 10 in a battle with Lance Stroll but was sent into the wall, damaging his suspension. That forced his retirement and ended a tough home race weekend.
NOVEMBER 13 • ROTOWIRE
Returns to points Bortoleto finished 10th in the Mexico City Grand Prix F1 race at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez on Sunday.
Impact Bortoleto had an inconsistent weekend, though he ended on a strong note. He was surprisingly knocked out in Q1 after a shaky final lap in the qualifying session, though he quickly picked up three spots at the start of the race and then methodically moved his way into the points. Kick Sauber helped his position by besting Yuki Tsunoda on strategy and pit-stop speed, and then Bortoleto reeled in Isack Hadjar on pace in the final laps of the race. Bortoleto tallied some needed points, his first since the Italian Grand Prix.
OCTOBER 29 • ROTOWIRE
Overshadowed by Hulkenberg Bortoleto finished 18th at the United States Grand Prix F1 race at Circuit of the Americas on Sunday.
Impact The Kick Sauber had some pace for the weekend, though it was Nico Hulkenberg who took advantage. Bortoleto never threatened for points, finishing 11th in the spring and 18th in the grand prix. He's now failed to record points in four of five races since the summer break.
OCTOBER 22 • ROTOWIRE
Troubled weekend in Singapore Bortoleto finished 17th in the Singapore Grand Prix F1 race at the Marina Bay Street Circuit on Sunday.
Impact Bortoleto was a bit unlucky during qualifying, as a brief yellow flag ruined his push lap in Q1. The bad luck continued into the race, as he suffered wing damage on the opening lap. That effectively ended his day, and Bortoleto has now finished without points in three of the last four grand prix.
OCTOBER 9 • ROTOWIRE
Misses out on points in Baku Bortoleto finished 11th in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix F1 race at the Baku City Circuit on Sunday.
Impact Bortoleto had a decent weekend, though he wasn't as close to points as his 11th-place finish indicates. He was nearly 30 seconds off the pace of Isack Hadjar for 10th place, though Bortoleto did manage to gain a pair of spots within the first few laps of the race. Boroleto has still finished in the points three times in his last five grand prix.
SEPTEMBER 25 • ROTOWIRE
Back in top 10 Bortoleto finished eighth in the Italian Grand Prix F1 race at Autodromo Nazionale Monza on Sunday.
Impact Bortoleto matched the best qualifying effort of his F1 career to start seventh on the grid. The beginning of his race was chaotic as he went wide on Turn 1 to avoid contact and then lost an additional position on Turn 2. However, mistakes from those ahead of him allowed him to regain most of his track position and record points for the fourth time in his last six races.
SEPTEMBER 11 • ROTOWIRE
Fades to 15th Bortoleto finished 15th at the Dutch Grand Prix F1 race at Circuit Zandvoort on Sunday.
Impact Bortoleto was the faster of the two Kick Sauber drivers during qualifying, nabbing the final spot to head into Q2. He suffered an apparent clutch issue that limited him at the start, and he then got into a scuffle with Carlos Sainz Jr. that broke his endplate. Despite the disappointing finish, Bortoleto has earned points in three of his last five grand prix.
SEPTEMBER 3 • ROTOWIRE
Continues to impress Bortoleto finished sixth at the Hungarian Grand Prix F1 race at Hungaroring on Sunday.
Impact The Kick Sauber continues to show impressive and improved pace, while Bortoleto is quickly proving he is capable of getting everything out of his car. He qualified sixth and finished Q1 nearly half a second faster than teammate Nico Hulkenberg. Bortoleto then passed Lance Stroll at the start of the race to record the best finish of his F1 career. He also has points in three of his last four grand prix.
AUGUST 4 • ROTOWIRE
Another points finish Bortoleto finished ninth at the Belgian Grand Prix F1 race at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps on Sunday.
Impact Kick Sauber has shown improved pace over the last several grand prix and that continued at Belgium. He had nearly identical races in the sprint and traditional grand prix, starting 10th and finishing ninth in each. Bortoleto proved to be significantly faster than teammate Nico Hulkenberg and has now tallied points in two of the last three races.
JULY 28 • ROTOWIRE
Crash at British GP Bortoleto retired on Lap 4 from the British Grand Prix F1 race at Silverstone Circuit on Sunday.
Impact Bortoleto struggled to keep his car on the road at Silverstone, suffering crashes in FP3 and the race. The latter ended his weekend, as he went into the gravel and beached his Kick Sauber on Lap 4. While it was a successful weekend for the team thanks to an impressive showing from Nico Hulkenberg, it was a letdown for Bortoleto.
JULY 7 • ROTOWIRE
First points of career Bortoleto finished eighth in the Austrian Grand Prix F1 race at Red Bull Ring on Sunday.
Impact Bortoleto has found success at Red Bull Ring throughout his career, as it was the site of his first F2 win in 2024. One year later, he reached Q3 for the first time and maintained track position to record his first points. Bortoleto battled with Fernando Alonso for seventh place in the final laps, but he ultimately came home in eighth. The Kick Sauber received upgrades prior to the Monaco Grand Prix and appears to be a competitive car for the rest of the season, which should help Bortoleto's outlook.
JUNE 30 • ROTOWIRE
Doomed by poor qualifying Bortoleto finished 14th in the Canadian Grand Prix F1 race at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve on Sunday.
Impact Bortoleto has gotten some of the pace out of the improved Kick Sauber in recent race weekends, but his Canadian Grand Prix was doomed by his poor qualifying. He was knocked out of Q1 by seven-thousandths of a second but still started 15th on the grid after being promoted one spot due to Yuki Tsunoda getting a 10-spot penalty. Bortoleto couldn't make much of a move up the field and has yet to tally points, but there are hints of improvement.
JUNE 16 • ROTOWIRE
Best career finish Bortoleto finished 12th in the Spanish Grand Prix F1 race at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Sunday.
Impact Kick Sauber teammate Nico Hulkenberg made arguably the biggest splash of any driver at the Spanish Grand Prix, but Bortoleto also enjoyed a strong weekend. He reached Q2 for the third time in the last four race weekends and lined up 12th on the grid -- the best start of his F1 career. The team intended to employ a unique one-stop strategy after Bortoleto pitted on Lap 13 for hard tires, but he ultimately switched to softs under a late safety car after failing to move up the grid as hoped.
JUNE 2 • ROTOWIRE
Recovers from early incident Bortoleto finished 14th at the Monaco Grand Prix F1 race at Circuit de Monaco on Sunday.
Impact Bortoleto was beaten by three one-hundredths of a second by Kick Sauber teammate Nico Hulkenberg for the cutoff to Q2. Things got worse for him on race day after starting 16th on the grid, as he was passed on the outside by Kimi Antonelli before going nose-first into the barriers at Portier. That forced him to make an extra stop to replace his front wing, though he managed to show decent pace and turn in a respectable finish that matched his best of the season.
MAY 27 • ROTOWIRE
Finishes 18th at Imola Bortoleto finished 18th at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix F1 race at Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari on Sunday.
Impact Bortoleto was fortunate to reach Q2 based on the timing of a red flag, but his fortunes reversed on race day. He pitted just moments before a virtual safety car, burying him to the back of the field when his rivals pitted with less of a time penalty. Bortoleto's Kick Sauber unsurprisingly lacked the pace to move up the field, leaving him to finish last among cars remaining on the road.
MAY 19 • ROTOWIRE
Hints of pace at Miami Bortoleto was forced to retire after 30 laps due to an engine failure in the Miami Grand Prix F1 race at Miami International Autodrome on Sunday.
Impact Bortoleto didn't show much in the sprint, but he reached Q2 in the qualifying session for the first time since the Australian Grand Prix. He was unlikely to contend for points, but he did show signs of getting the most out of his Kick Sauber as he was running 13th prior to the engine issue.

Remains at bottom of pack Bortoleto finished 18th in the Bahrain Grand Prix F1 race at the Bahrain International Circuit on Sunday.
Impact Bortoleto remained at the bottom of the field throughout the race weekend. He qualified 18th and finished in the same position as his Kick Sauber is a subpar car relative to the field. Positively, Bortoleto has remained mistake-free, but he is far from contending for points.
