Impact The Rockies went with a bullpen game, and Agnos opened the contest as well as Colorado could have hoped for. It was the right-hander's third starting assignment of the year, and he's been effective with a 1.69 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 6:5 K:BB in 10.2 innings out of the rotation versus a 6.09 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 46:22 K:BB across 68 innings from the bullpen. He's worked at least five innings just one time this season and has yet to reach the 80-pitch marker, so Agnos may struggle for streaming appeal if he draws another start.

Impact Agnos will be filling in for Ryan Feltner, who was scratched from his start due to an illness. Agnos has logged a 5.68 ERA and 1.43 WHIP across 76 innings with the Rockies this season and hasn't thrown more than three innings in an appearance since May, so his outing Saturday is likely to be relatively brief.

Impact Agnos returned to the bullpen after making a start versus the Brewers last Saturday. The 25-year-old was responsible for the Athletics' two-run frames in the sixth and eighth innings. With a 7.80 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 30:18 K:BB through 42.2 innings over 18 appearances (two starts), Agnos probably won't get many more chances to start. Sean Sullivan was called up Friday to make his big-league debut and tossed three scoreless innings before leaving the game due to an illness, but the last spot in the Rockies' rotation will likely go to either Sullivan until Tanner Gordon (hip) is ready to return.

Impact Fresh off tossing five scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and one walk in his first MLB start May 21 in Arizona, Agnos shifted back to the bullpen this week, with the Rockies having Tanner Gordon replace him as their fifth starter. Despite being called upon in a low-pressure spot in the top of the fifth inning with the Rockies trailing by seven runs, Agnos did little to stop the bleeding. The gem of an outing against the Diamondbacks looks to be an extreme outlier performance for the 25-year-old righty, who now owns a 6.42 ERA and 1.46 WHIP over 45 career appearances in the big leagues.

Works five shutout frames as opener Agnos allowed one hit and issued one walk while striking out four batters over five innings in a no-decision against Arizona on Thursday.

Impact Coming into the contest, the expectation was that the Rockies were opting for a bullpen game, with Agnos working as the opener. While that did play out, Agnos gave Colorado close to a traditional starter's depth, as he was able to finish a career-high five innings. Agnos' 71 pitches weren't quite reflective of a typical starter's workload, but they got him deep enough to qualify for the win, though Colorado's offense was unable to muster enough support to give him that victory. Nonetheless, this was a very promising outing for Agnos in his first career start. The right-hander had previously completed four innings in long relief twice this season, so he seems to have his arm built up enough to work as a spot starter again if that becomes a need for the Rockies.

Impact Tomoyuki Sugano had been on track to start Thursday, but he'll instead be pushed back to Friday while the Rockies opt for a bullpen game in the series opener. The upcoming start will be the first of Agnos' professional career, as he's worked exclusively as a reliever and in the minors and in 43 appearances with the Rockies over the past two seasons. Agnos should be capable of providing more length than the typical opener, however, as he's already covered four-plus innings on three different occasions this season.

Impact Agnos was optioned to Triple-A on Sunday, but he'll be eligible to come back to the big leagues after Jordan Beck (hamstring) was placed on 10-day injured list Monday. Agnos owns a 5.40 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with a 4:3 K:BB across 11.2 frames in May (four appearances).

Impact Agnos was expected to operate as a high-leverage reliever for the Rockies this season and is tied for third on the team with two saves, but he's ended up filling more of a multi-inning role and is now being sent to the minors with a 5.59 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 20:10 K:BB over 29 innings. The right-hander has been scored upon in eight of his 13 appearances this season and gave up multiple runs in each of those contests.
