Shipped to Houston The Astros acquired Garcia from the Marlins on Wednesday in exchange for minor-league outfielder Bryan De La Cruz, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
Impact De La Cruz isn't a top-tier prospect, but a 24-year-old with an .880 OPS at Triple-A is a decent return for a rental reliever in Garcia, who is signed to an affordable one-year, $1.9 million contract in his final year of arbitration. Prior to being dealt, the 30-year-old right-hander emerged as the Marlins' primary closer this season, converting 15 of 18 save attempts while posting a 3.47 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 8.7 K/9. Unfortunately for his fantasy managers, Garcia's value will take a significant hit moving forward, as he's unlikely to challenge All-Star closer Ryan Pressly for save opportunities in Houston. Instead, Garcia will become a key part of the bridge to the ninth inning.

Picks up 15th save Garcia recorded his 15th save of the season Saturday against the Padres after tossing a scoreless ninth inning, walking one and fanning one.
Impact Garcia handled the ninth inning with a one-run lead and while he walked Trent Grisham to start his outing, he quickly closed things out by striking out Manny Machado and then inducing Wil Myers to a double play. This was Garcia's 15th save of the season and he has converted each of his last six save chances.
JULY 25, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Tallies 14th save Garcia did not allow a baserunner in a scoreless 10th inning to earn the save Wednesday against the Nationals.
Impact Garcia was called upon to maintain a two-run lead in the 10th inning and needed only nine pitches to lock down his 14th save of the season. It was his first save since July 3, and he had been shaky in four outings since, allowing five earned runs, seven hits and four walks across just 3.1 innings. Therefore, this was a necessary clean outing for Garcia and may have been enough for him to hang onto the closer role. Anthony Bender picked up a save July 4, and he could be next in line for saves if the team decides to make a change. However, Bender had pitched three of the last four days so he was likely unavailable for this contest.

Nails down 13th save Garcia gave up a hit and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Saturday to record his 13th save of the season in a 3-2 win over Atlanta.
Impact After a brief rough patch in late May and early June, Garcia has bounced back in impressive fashion, posting a 2.25 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 9:1 K:BB over his last eight innings while converting all four of his save chances. The 30-year-old remains locked into the closer role for Miami.

Picks up save No. 12 Garcia allowed one hit and had two strikeouts in one inning to pick up the save in Saturday's win over Washington.
Impact Garcia yielded a leadoff single to Josh Harrison to start the ninth, but he responded by fanning Alex Avila and Kyle Schwarber before inducing a game-ending pop-out by Trea Turner. It was an efficient performance by the veteran reliever, who had allowed a run in two of his previous three outings. Garcia is 3-6 with 12 saves in 15 opportunities in 2021, and he sports a stellar 2.79 ERA and 1.07 WHIP.

Stuck with loss Tuesday Garcia (3-6) took the loss Tuesday as the Marlins fell 2-1 to the Blue Jays, giving up one run on two hits in the ninth inning. He struck out two.
Impact Entering a 1-1 game at home with a save situation no longer on the table, Garcia couldn't send the affair to extra innings and instead served up back-to-back doubles to Cavan Biggio and Lourdes Gurriel. The Miami closer has been struggling lately, getting tagged with four losses and two blown saves in four chances over his last nine appearances with a 7.36 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 6:4 K:BB through 7.1 innings. His overall numbers on the season are still solid, but the Marlins could begin looking at other ninth-inning options if Garcia can't right the ship soon.

Gives up walkoff homer Garcia (3-5) was tagged with the loss Tuesday against the Cardinals after giving up a walkoff home run in the ninth inning. He didn't record a single out.
Impact Garcia entered the game in the bottom of the ninth with a clear goal, which was to keep the tie and force extra innings, but he failed miserably and gave up a walkoff homer to the first batter he faced -- Paul Goldschmidt. Garcia ended a streak of four scoreless outings in this one, but his role as the Marlins closer shouldn't be at risk going forward.

Escapes with 11th save Garcia allowed a hit and a walk in a scoreless ninth inning Friday, striking out two and earning a save over Atlanta.
Impact Garcia coughed up a leadoff single to Pablo Sandoval and issued a two-out walk to Ozzie Albies but still managed to convert his 11th save of the season. He lowered his season ERA to 2.42 with a 25:8 K:BB. The 30-year-old righty is 11 for 14 in save chances and has turned in three straight scoreless outings after blowing back-to-back chances earlier this month.

Converts 10th save Garcia pitched a perfect ninth inning to earn the save in Sunday's 3-1 win over Pittsburgh.
Impact After taking blown saves in his last two outings, this was an encouraging return to form for Garcia. He protected a two-run lead to make sure Sandy Alcantara's eight-inning gem didn't go to waste. For the year, Garcia is 10-for-13 in save chances. He's posted a 2.63 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 23:7 K:BB across 24 innings.

Tagged with second blown save Garcia (3-4) took the loss and blew a save Wednesday as the Marlins were downed 6-5 by the Blue Jays, coughing up three runs on three hits and two walks over only one-third of an i...
Impact Entrusted with a 5-3 lead in the ninth inning, Garcia gave up three straight hits to tie the game, and his only out came after he intentionally walked Vladimir Guerrero and Teoscar Hernandez to load the bases and create a force play at the plate. The right-hander had converted five straight saves prior to Wednesday, and on the season Garcia is 9-for-11 on save chances with a 2.86 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 23:7 K:BB through 22 innings.
JUNE 3, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Takes loss in relief Garcia (3-3) was charged with the loss against the Phillies on Thursday after allowing one run on one hit and a walk while striking out two batters across one inning.
Impact Garcia entered a tied game in the ninth inning and was haunted by a leadoff triple off the bat of Odubel Herrera. The right-hander managed to limit the damage to one run from there on out, but unfortunately, that would be enough to strap him with his third loss of the season. Across 21.2 innings this year, Garcia has tallied nine saves for the Marlins while compiling a 1.66 ERA and 0.92 WHIP.
MAY 27, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Converts ninth save Garcia pitched a scoreless ninth inning, hit a batter and struck out two to earn the save in Wednesday's 4-2 win over Philadelphia.
Impact The right-hander put Roman Quinn aboard with a hit-by-pitch, but Garcia struck out Matt Joyce and Andrew McCutchen before Jean Segura grounded out to end the game. Garcia is now 9-for-10 in save chances this year. He's pitched to a 1.31 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 21:4 K:BB across 20.2 innings as Miami's primary closer for much of the season.

Collects win Saturday Garcia (3-2) picked up the win in Saturday's 3-1 victory over the Mets, walking one and striking out one in a scoreless inning.
Impact With the game tied 1-1, Garcia took care of the Mets in the top of the ninth inning and was rewarded when Garrett Cooper slugged a walkoff homer. The Marlins' closer has reeled off seven straight scoreless appearances, and Garcia sports a 1.37 ERA and 19:4 K:BB through 19.2 innings with eight saves in nine chances.
