Steven Brault - Won't return in 2021 Brault (lat) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Monday.
Impact Brault was placed on the injured list with a recurrent left lat strain Saturday, and he'll be sidelined for the remainder of the season following his move to the 60-day IL. The southpaw made seven starts in 2021 and recorded a 5.86 ERA and 1.63 WHIP in 27.2 innings. He'll now work toward returning to full health in time for spring training in 2022.

Enyel De Los Santos - Claimed by Pirates De Los Santos was claimed off waivers by the Pirates on Monday.
Impact De Los Santos was designated for assignment by the Phillies on Sunday after posting a 6.75 ERA in 28 innings this season, but it's not too surprising to see another team taking a chance on him. His underlying numbers aren't bad, as his strong 30.7 percent strikeout rate should ordinarily be enough to overcome a sub-par 10.2 percent walk rate. Given that he's still just 25 years old, it's certainly not out of the question that he eventually becomes a useful piece for the Pirates. It looks as though he'll remain in the minors for now, as Pittsburgh cleared a 40-man roster spot for him by transferring Steven Brault (lat) to the 60-day injured list but did not clear a spot on the active roster.

Keibert Ruiz - Returns to lineup Ruiz (head) is starting Monday's game against the Marlins, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
Impact Ruiz missed Sunday's game against the Pirates after he was hit in the helmet by a pitch Saturday, but he avoided a concussion. The 23-year-old is participating in pregame drills and will be back in action following his brief absence.

Juan Soto - On base four times in win Soto went 2-for-4 with a triple, double, two walks and a run Sunday in the Nationals' 6-1 win over the Pirates.
Impact For the second time in as many days, Soto reached base four times to bring his OBP up to a spectacular .457 on the season. Since an 0-for-4 showing Aug. 27 against the Mets, Soto is slashing .407/.568/.704 with a measly 8.1 percent strikeout rate over a 16-game stretch.

Chris Stratton - In line for more saves? Stratton has served as the team's primary closer with David Bednar (side) unavailable, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Impact Manager Derek Shelton would not say how much time Bednar might miss, though he has yet to be placed on the injured list. For his part, Stratton has collected two saves and one hold since Sept. 6. The team doesn't play Monday, so it's unlikely it will provide guidance on Bednar's health prior to Tuesday.
