Oneil Cruz - Two more stolen bases Cruz went 2-for-5 with an RBI, a double, a run scored and two stolen bases Thursday against the Nationals.
Impact Cruz started his fifth straight game with a lefty starter on the mound, and he's only been benched once against southpaws this season. He continued his hot start to the campaign, doubling in a run in the fifth inning. Cruz also swiped two bases, giving him nine across 19 games while being caught just once.

Orlando Ribalta - Earns first career save Ribalta earned the save Thursday against the Pirates, allowing no runs on one hit and no walks while striking out one in the 10th inning.
Impact His first career save was a task made tougher by the free runner on second base, but Ribalta worked around that and a leadoff single by striking out Bryan Reynolds and then inducing a game-ending double play. Despite the admirable performance Thursday, Ribalta was the sixth pitcher to come out of the pen and the Nationals didn't have many more places to turn for the 10th inning. It's not likely that the right-hander will see many more leverage situations like this in the future.

Clayton Beeter - Blows save but earns win Beeter (1-0) earned the win but blew the save Thursday against the Pirates, allowing one run on one hit and two walks while striking out one in the ninth inning.
Impact Given a 7-6 lead in the ninth inning, Beeter struggled with control Thursday, walking two batters and allowing the game-tying run on a bases-loaded, infield single by Brandon Lowe. It was the second blown save of the season for the right-hander. The damage done, the 27-year-old was able to wiggle out of the jam to bring the game to extra innings, and the Nationals rewarded him by scoring in the top of the 10th inning to give him a win. Regardless, the control issues must be cleaned up by Beeter if he's going to continue to be the trusted ninth-inning option for the Nationals as he has more walks (8) than strikeouts (7) in 9.1 innings pitched so far on the season.

Foster Griffin - Tagged for four in no-decision Griffin took a no-decision Thursday against the Pirates, allowing four runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out seven in 5.1 innings pitched.
Impact It was smooth sailing for Griffin through four innings, but he ran into some trouble in the fifth inning after being handed a 4-0 lead. The 30-year-old allowed four runs of his own in the bottom of the frame, the biggest swing being a three-run home run from Marcell Ozuna. That blast snapped a streak of three straight starts allowing two runs or fewer to begin the season for the southpaw. On the bright side, he does add seven more strikeouts to his total, bringing that number up to 19 through 20.2 innings pitched on the season. His next scheduled start will come against Atlanta, fourth in MLB with 24 home runs, on Tuesday.
