Jerar Encarnación - Optioned to minors The Marlins optioned Encarnacion to Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Impact The 24-year-old outfielder was one of four players demoted to minor-league camp in the Marlins' latest round of roster cuts. Encarnacion will move up a level to begin the 2022 campaign after he spent the majority of the 2021 season at Double-A Pensacola, where he slashed .222/.308/.400 with nine home runs and five stolen bases over 260 plate appearances.

JJ Bleday - Assigned to minor-league camp Bleday was reassigned to minor-league camp Thursday after spending the start of the spring with the major-league squad, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Impact Bleday remains one of the Marlins' more interesting prospects despite a shaky 2021 season, but he's not yet in consideration for a big-league debut. He was unconvincing in 110 Double-A games last season, homering 12 times while hitting .212/.323/.373, but a .316/.435/.600 showing at the Arizona Fall League meant that he ended the season on an encouraging note. He'll likely open the season with Triple-A Jacksonville.
