Wade Miley heads to the IL, but he wants to pitch for the Reds again in 2022 The Reds have a club option for Wade Miley in 2022, but Miley hopes he can build on this season and stay in Cincinnati.

Jesse Winker - Starting rehab drills Winker (intercostal strain) went through a series of agility drills and played catch with a trainer before Friday night's game against the Nats, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati...
Impact It's probably too late for Winker to return this season, and if/when the Reds get eliminated by the Cardinals, there's little point in rushing him back.

Carter Kieboom - Available off bench Kieboom (forearm) had an MRI come back clean and is available off the bench Saturday at Cincinnati, Pete Kerzel of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact Kieboom is sitting out a second consecutive game due to the left forearm injury, though it doesn't appear to be a serious concern. Jordy Mercer will start at the hot corner in his place for Washington.

R.J. Alaniz - Outrighted to Triple-A Alaniz cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Louisville on Saturday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact Alaniz was designated for assignment Wednesday and will remain in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 30-year-old appeared in only three games for the Reds and has a 3.46 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 45:17 across 39 innings at Triple-A.

Cionel PƩrez - Recalled by Reds Perez was recalled by the Reds on Saturday.
Impact Perez threw 22 innings of relief for the Reds earlier in the season but didn't look particularly good, struggling to a 6.95 ERA, 1.86 WHIP and 22:20 K:BB. He'll replace Wade Miley, who landed on the injured list with a neck strain, though the Reds will likely call someone else up when it gets to Miley's turn in the rotation, as Perez has exclusively pitched out of the bullpen this season.

Joey Votto - Late scratch with knee issue Votto was scratched from Saturday's lineup against the Nationals due to left knee soreness, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
Impact Votto was penciled in to start at first base, per usual, before being scratched due to the knee injury. The severity of the injury remains unclear, and the 38-year-old should be considered day-to-day until the team updates his status. Tyler Stephenson will enter the starting nine in his absence.

Wade Miley - Lands on injured list Miley was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a strained neck, retroactive to Sept. 22.
Impact Miley was originally scheduled to start Friday before having his outing pushed back due to the neck injury, but he appeared on track to take the mound Monday against the Pirates before being put on the IL. The move is retroactive to Wednesday, so the veteran left-hander will be eligible to be activated next weekend, though there's a strong chance he's already pitched his last game in 2021. Cionel Perez was recalled from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move.
