Undergoes shoulder surgery Pasquantino underwent surgery Wednesday to repair the torn labrum in his right shoulder, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Impact Pasquantino was diagnosed with the season-ending labrum tear a couple weeks ago. He is aiming to be ready for the beginning of the 2024 campaign, though there probably won't be a clearer picture on his overall recovery timetable until the winter months. The 25-year-old first baseman finishes at a .247/.324/.437 slash line with nine homers and 26 RBI over 61 games in 2023.

Impact The 25-year-old was diagnosed with right shoulder discomfort Friday and was placed on the 10-day injured list a day later before follow-up tests evidently revealed a more serious injury. Pasquantino will inevitably be moved to 60-day IL in the near future, which will open a spot on the 40-man roster. He finishes his 2023 season having produced a .247 batting average with nine home runs, 26 RBI and 24 runs scored over 259 plate appearances in 61 games.

Impact Pasquantino left Friday's game against Baltimore with what was originally called right shoulder discomfort. His updated diagnosis remains somewhat vague, but he'll undergo an MRI on Monday, per Jaylon T. Thompson of The Kansas City Star, at which point a clearer timeline for his return may emerge. Nick Pratto will likely spend more time at first base until Pasquantino returns, which would open up at-bats in left field for Edward Olivares, who was activated off the restricted list to take Pasquantino's spot on the roster.
