INJURIES

Getting surgery for thumb Pasquantino said that he hopes to undergo surgery Tuesday for his fractured right thumb, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.
Impact Assuming no other hand injury was uncovered during Pasquantino's thumb surgery, he'll face a 6-to-8-week recovery timeline. When speaking to the media Monday, Pasquantino said that in his mind, his season is not over, but even if the Royals make a deep playoff run, the coaching staff may not be keen in reintegrating him after a long absence. After his 2023 campaign was cut short to labrum surgery of his non-throwing shoulder, Pasquantino enjoyed a productive comeback season before suffering the fractured thumb last week, slashing .262/.315/.446 with 19 home runs, 97 RBI, 64 runs and one stolen base across 554 plate appearances.

Placed on IL The Royals placed Pasquantino (thumb) on the 10-day injured list Friday.
Impact Pasquantino was diagnosed with a fractured right thumb Friday and given a 6-to-8 week timetable for return, ending the first baseman's 2024 season. Kansas City recalled Nick Loftin from Triple-A Omaha to take Pasquantino's spot on the 26-man roster. Loftin and Salvador Perez should handle most of the work at first base down the stretch.

Diagnosed with fractured thumb Pasquantino will miss the next 6-to-8 weeks after being diagnosed with a fractured right thumb.
Impact Pasquantino suffered the injury during Thursday's game in Houston on a collision at first base. While he could potentially return if the Royals make a deep postseason run, it's likelier that the 26-year-old won't be seen again until spring training. It's a devastating blow to a Royals team that's fighting for a division title and a major hit to Pasquantino's fantasy managers, as well. Nick Pratto or Nick Loftin are options to be called up from Triple-A Omaha to fill in at first base, and the Royals might also give Salvador Perez more action at the position while Freddy Fermin catches.
AUGUST 30, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Undergoing X-rays Pasquantino underwent X-rays on his hand following Thursday's game against the Astros, Jaylon T. Thompson of The Kansas City Star reports.
Impact Pasquantino was forced to exit the game after a collision at first base. Manager Matt Quatraro did not yet have the results of the X-rays to provide a potential timeline for Pasquantino's return.
AUGUST 30, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Hurt in collision Pasquantino was forced to exit Thursday's game against the Astros after being involved in a collision at first base, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.
Impact Lucas Erceg (hand) was unable to cleanly field a groundball and he rushed an inaccurate throw to first base, causing Pasquantino to move into the path of the baserunner. The nature of the injury is currently unclear, but Pasquantino left the game immediately.

The 26-year-old has excelled this month, batting .271 with seven home runs, 25 RBI and 17 runs scored in 114 plate appearances. Pasquantino's stellar August has propelled him to fourth in MLB with 97 RBI as he continues his impressive breakout season. Overall, the first-baseman is slashing .264/.317/.449 with 19 home runs, 97 RBI and 64 runs scored in 130 games.

The first baseman has 22 RBI since the All-Star break, ranking second in the majors to only Arizona's Ketel Marte. For the season, Pasquantino is slashing .270/.324/.463 with 84 RBI, 53 runs scored, 25 doubles and a stolen base over 112 contests. He's fully put his poor start to the year behind him and is now a great run producer while batting right behind a potential MVP candidate in Bobby Witt.
AUGUST 8, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

He's added 16 homers, 82 RBI, 52 runs scored, 25 doubles and a stolen base over 111 contests.

Slugs another homer Pasquantino went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Red Sox on Monday.
Impact Pasquantino struck out in two of his first three at-bats but ended his performance on a positive note with a solo shot in the eighth inning. It was the first baseman's fifth homer over his past six contests, and he's added 11 RBI during that span. Prior to the power surge, Pasquantino had gone 17 games without a long ball.
AUGUST 6, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Power surge continues Saturday Pasquantino went 2-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Saturday's 6-5 extra-innings loss to the Tigers.
Impact The sixth-inning long ball off Kenta Maeda was Pasquantino's 15th of the season, and his fourth in the last four games. He's also driven in at least one run in five straight contests and hit safely in seven straight, continuing a hot streak that has seen the first baseman slash .371/.394/.597 over 15 games since the All-Star break with 17 RBI.
AUGUST 4, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Records first steal Pasquantino went 1-for-5 with two RBI, one run scored and a stolen base in Friday's 9-2 win over the Tigers.
Impact The steal was Pasquantino's first since his rookie year in 2022 -- he was on the back end of a double steal that saw Bobby Witt swipe third base. While there's virtually no speed in Pasquantino's game, he has swung a hot bat lately, going 21-for-55 (.381) over his last 13 games. For the season, he's at a .263/.319/.441 slash line with 14 home runs, 78 RBI, 49 runs scored, 24 doubles and two triples across 107 contests.
AUGUST 3, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Slugs two homers Thursday Pasquantino went 2-for-5 with a pair of home runs and four RBI in a 7-1 win against the Tigers on Thursday.
Impact Pasquantino drove in more than half of the Royals' runs in the victory, belting a three-run shot in the first inning and a solo blast in the eighth. The first baseman had gone 17 contests without homering before he went deep Wednesday, and he's now swatted three long balls over his past two games. Pasquantino also has seven multi-hit performance over his past 11 contests and is slashing .413/.438/.652 with 13 RBI during that span.
AUGUST 2, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Ends homer drought Pasquantino went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional RBI in Wednesday's 10-3 win over the White Sox.
Impact Pasquantino hit an RBI single in the first inning before adding a two-run homer in the ninth. The long ball was his first since July 6, though the first baseman was still productive by batting .309 with 10 RBI over the 17 contests between homers. For the season, he's up to a .262/.320/.429 slash line with 12 homers, 72 RBI, 46 runs scored, 24 doubles and no stolen bases across 105 games.
AUGUST 1, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Drives in two in loss Pasquantino went 3-for-4 with a walk and two RBI in Wednesday's 8-6 loss to the Diamondbacks.
Impact Pasquantino appears to be taking inspiration from teammate Bobby Witt -- this was the former's second three-hit effort in the last three games. Pasquantino has gotten to turning around his season in July, batting .304 this month, though he's still lacking in power with a .377 slugging percentage over 17 games in that span. For the year, the first baseman has a .258/.320/.425 slash line with 11 home runs, 66 RBI, 44 runs scored, 23 doubles and two triples over 99 contests.
JULY 25, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Tallies three hits Pasquantino went 3-for-5 with one RBI and one run scored in Monday's 10-4 win over the Diamondbacks.
Impact Pasquantino hit an RBI single and scored on a Salvador Perez home run in the third inning. It's been a decent but unspectacular July for Pasquantino -- he's batting .274 (17-for-62) with two extra-base hits and nine RBI over 15 contests this month. He's up to a .252/.312/.419 slash line with 11 home runs, 64 RBI, 43 runs scored, 22 doubles and two triples over 97 games this season as the Royals' starting first baseman. His best asset in 2024 has been a 13.2 percent strikeout rate, which has likely helped him prevent extended cold spells at the plate.
JULY 23, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Smacks solo homer in loss Pasquantino went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's loss to Colorado.
Impact Pasquantino jumped on a hanging slider from Austin Gomber in the top of the sixth and launched it 434 feet into the stands in center field for his 11th home run of the season, extending his hitting streak to four games. The first baseman has also tallied multiple hits in six of his last 10 contests and has driven in at least one run in 10 of his last 12. Over that former stretch Pasquantino is batting .375 (15-for-40) with three homers, 11 RBI and five runs scored.
JULY 7, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
RBI streak at six games Pasquantino went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 7-2 loss to the Guardians.
Impact The first baseman opened the scoring for his squad in the first inning by taking Tanner Bibee deep, but the Royals' offense dried up after that. Pasquantino has gone yard in back-to-back games and has a six-game RBI streak going, batting .348 (8-for-23) over that stretch with a double, three homers and eight RBI.
JUNE 30, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Drives in go-ahead runs Pasquantino went 1-for-4 with a two-run double in the Royals' 8-4 win over the Mariners on Saturday.
Impact Pasquantino broke a 3-3 tie with a two-out double in the bottom of the fifth that brought home two. It was the 26-year-old's ninth multi-RBI effort of the season and his third over his last eight games. He now has 43 RBI this season, which is second on the Royals behind Bobby Witt. Pasquantino's been a steady producer in the middle of the Royals' lineup all season and will carry a .244/.317/.433 line into Sunday's game.
JUNE 8, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Homers in return Pasquantino went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 7-6 loss to the Twins.
Impact Pasquantino missed Wednesday's game due to a shin injury, but his absence wasn't a long one. He served as the designated hitter Thursday, but it shouldn't be long before he's back at first base. The 26-year-old's homer was his first since May 9, which was also the date of his previous multi-hit effort. Pasquantino is slashing just .229/.309/.404 with six homers, 35 RBI, 26 runs scored, 13 doubles and a triple over 220 plate appearances.
