INJURIES

Fans seven across 3.2 innings Megill did not factor in the decision in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader against Pittsburgh. He completed 3.2 innings, allowing one run on four hits and three walks while strikin...
Impact The combination of hits and walks drove Megill's pitch count up to 85, resulting in a moderately early exit and preventing him from qualifying for the win. Still, it was another impressive performance from the right-hander, as he struck out seven batters for the second straight start and surrendered only one run. Megill has posted a 3.50 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 26:9 K:BB across his first 18 major-league frames, and he continues to make a strong case to stick in the rotation throughout the second half of the campaign.

Sharp in no-decision Megill didn't factor into the decision in Monday's 4-2 win over the Brewers after allowing one run on two hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out seven.
Impact The only blemish on the rookie right-hander's line was a solo blast by Omar Narvaez in the fourth inning. Megill, an eighth-round pick in 2018, has looked very good through his first three big-league starts, delivering a 3.77 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 19:6 K:BB through 14.1 innings. The 25-year-old has mixed a devastating slider (41.7 percent whiff rate so far) and a work-in-progress changeup in with a 95 mph fastball. While he might find himself in the bullpen in the second half if Carlos Carrasco (hamstring) ever gets healthy, Megill is proving he belongs in the majors.

Strikes out eight Megill allowed three earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out eight across five innings Tuesday against Atlanta. He did not factor into the decision.
Impact The outing marked Megill's second big-league start, and he improved both the length of his outing and ability to generate whiffs. He managed to complete five innings, with the only major damage against him being a three-run home run by Ozzie Albies. Megill also racked up an impressive 14 swinging strikes on 85 total pitches, doubling his strikeout total from his major-league debut. Through only 9.1 innings, he's now allowed five earned runs while posting a 12:4 K:BB.

Getting second start Mets manager Luis Rojas said Megill will start Tuesday's game in Atlanta, SportsNet New York reports.
Impact Megill will face Atlanta for what will be his second straight turn through the rotation after he started in his big-league debut last Wednesday. He was serviceable if unspectacular in that outing, giving up two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out four over 4.1 innings. Megill was initially expected to be one and done in the rotation, but he'll benefit from a second turn after Friday's doubleheader with the Phillies created a stretch of six games in five days. Assuming the Mets have no new injuries to the rotation or changes to the schedule during the upcoming week, Megill could be optioned to Triple-A following Tuesday's outing.

No-decision in debut Megill didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 7-3 win over Atlanta, giving up two runs on three hits and two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out four.
Impact The 25-year-old appeared to be in good shape to pick up the win in his big-league debut after the Mets jumped out to an early 5-0 lead, but Megill ran into trouble in the fifth inning and got the hook after throwing 92 pitches (53 strikes). Whether he gets another turn in the rotation will depend on how quickly Marcus Stroman (hip) can return to the mound.

Promoted for big-league debut Megill had his contract selected by the Mets and is starting Wednesday's game versus Atlanta, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Impact The right-hander was previously announced as the starter for Wednesday's series finale, and now he's officially joined the major-league roster ahead of his debut. Megill has a 3.35 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 59:12 K:BB over 40.1 innings between Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Syracuse this season.
