INJURIES

Bound for Triple-A The Diamondbacks optioned Locklear to Triple-A Reno on Monday.
Impact Locklear ended up being a casualty of the 26-man active roster after the Diamondbacks needed to clear a spot for outfielder Jordan Lawlar's (hamstring) return from the 10-day injured list. After being recalled from Reno on July 17, Locklear served mainly as a short-side platoon player during his time with Arizona, batting .278/.357/.444 with one home run, one stolen base, six RBI and eight runs in 15 games. He'll get the chance to play on a more regular basis at Triple-A.

Heading to bench Tuesday Locklear is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates.
Impact Locklear will open Tuesday's contest on the bench, but he seems to have worked his way into a part-time role in the Arizona lineup after going 4-for-14 with a home run, a stolen base, a walk, four RBI and three runs while starting in four of the previous five contests. Tim Tawa will get the nod at first base Tuesday, but he's capable of playing all over the infield and outfield if Arizona wants to clear room in the lineup for Locklear.

Launches first long ball Locklear went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, three RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's 10-6 win over the Cardinals.
Impact Locklear wasted little time making an impact, doubling in his first plate appearance before launching a two-run homer off Michael McGreevy in the fourth inning to give Arizona a lead it never relinquished. He later added an RBI single in the eighth. The long ball was Locklear's first since being recalled for his season debut July 17, and he's opened his season in the majors by batting 5-for-13 with five RBI through four games.

Make season debut Locklear started at first base and went 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 8-7 extra-inning win over St. Louis.
Impact Locklear made his first appearance for Arizona in 2026, after he was called up Friday as a replacement for the injured Tommy Troy (shoulder). First base is wide open for the Diamondbacks, who rank 27th in average (.219) and last in OPS (.590) at the position.

Officially recalled The Diamondbacks recalled Locklear from Triple-A Reno on Friday.
Impact Locklear will join the big club as the roster replacement for Tommy Troy (shoulder), who landed on the IL during the All-Star break. Locklear, 25, has put up just a .532 OPS across 47 games in his MLB career, but he's recently caught fire in the minors, slashing .404/.493/.807 with five homers, 14 RBI, 15 runs scored and a 10:9 BB:K across his last 15 games. He'll begin Friday's contest against St. Louis on the bench, though he could pick up a handful of starts at first base or DH while in the majors.
JULY 17 • ROTOWIRE
Poised for promotion to majors The Diamondbacks will recall Locklear from Triple-A Reno prior to Friday's game versus the Cardinals, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
Impact He will absorb the roster spot vacated by Tommy Troy (shoulder), who was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday. Locklear missed the first month-plus of the season while continuing his recovery from left shoulder and left elbow surgeries, but he's been swinging a red-hot bat at Reno in July, going 19-for-43 (.442) with five homers in 11 games. He could see regular playing time between first base and/or designated hitter.
JULY 16 • ROTOWIRE
Activated and optioned The Diamondbacks activated Locklear (shoulder/elbow) from the 10-day injured list Friday and optioned him to Triple-A Reno.
Impact Locklear has completed the rehab from his elbow and shoulder operations and homered in his first rehab game at Reno. However, with the emergence of Ildemaro Vargas at first base and Carlos Santana (thigh) also due back soon, Locklear will remain at Reno for now rather than rejoin the big club.
MAY 8 • ROTOWIRE
Embarking on rehab assignment The Diamondbacks assigned Locklear (elbow) to a rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League on Saturday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Impact Locklear underwent surgery in October to repair the labrum in his left shoulder and a torn ligament in his left elbow. He opened the season on the 10-day injured list, and he has progressed enough in his recovery to start a rehab assignment. Once Locklear gets some reps in the ACL, the Diamondbacks should have a better sense of when the 25-year-old will be ready to return to the majors. He appeared in 31 games for the Diamondbacks in 2025 and slashed .175/.267/.262 with three steals, three home runs and six RBI over 116 plate appearances.
MAY 2 • ROTOWIRE
Taking live at-bats Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Locklear (elbow) is taking live at-bats and "trending in a positive direction," Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports.
Impact Lovullo said the club may take another image of Locklear's elbow to ensure there are no setbacks as he takes the next steps. A rehab assignment will certainly take place, at which point, the team will get a better idea of his return timeline.
APRIL 24 • ROTOWIRE
Shelved to begin season The Diamondbacks placed Locklear (elbow) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.
Impact Locklear was held out for the entirety of spring training while recovering from Oct. 16 surgeries to repair the labrum in his left shoulder and a torn ligament in his left elbow. He's not expected to be ready to return from IL until around mid-May to early June.

FEBRUARY 17 • SPORTINGNEWS.COM
Aiming for mid-May return Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Sunday that Locklear (shoulder/elbow) is trending toward a return around mid-May to early June, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Impact Locklear will be a spectator for spring training while he continues to recover from Oct. 16 surgeries to address a torn labrum in his left shoulder and a torn ligament in his left elbow. Before suffering the two arm injuries in a Sept. 7 collision at first base with Boston's Connor Wong, Locklear slashed .175/.267/.262 with a 37.1 percent strikeout rate over 116 plate appearances with Arizona after coming over from Seattle in a trade-deadline deal. Locklear has a minor-league option remaining, so he could end up sticking around with Arizona's Triple-A affiliate in Reno once he completes his rehab process and gets activated from the injured list.
FEBRUARY 16 • ROTOWIRE
Scheduled for surgery Locklear will undergo surgeries to repair his left labrum and a torn ligament in his left elbow Oct. 16, Alex D'Agostino of SI.com reports.
Impact Locklear's season ended in early September due to inflammation in his elbow, and now that he's received his diagnosis following a round of imaging, he will officially have to undergo multiple operations. It's unclear how long it will take for the 24-year-old first baseman to recover, but he is expected to return at some point during the 2025 campaign. A more accurate timeline may emerge after he goes under the knife.
