Impact Gilbert landed on the injured list last week due to a left elbow sprain, and he'll be unavailable until at least late September after being transferred to the 60-day IL. It's not yet clear whether the Diamondbacks expect him to return prior to the end of the regular season, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him held out for the remainder of the year since Arizona isn't in playoff contention. Tommy Henry's contract was selected Wednesday to take Gilbert's place in the rotation.

Out with elbow sprain Gilbert was placed on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to July 27, due to a left elbow sprain Friday.

Impact Gilbert apparently picked up the injury during Tuesday's start against the Giants, when he surrendered two runs over four frames in a no-decision. The left-hander will miss at least a couple turns through the rotation and will be eligible to be reinstated Aug. 11, though given it's an elbow issue he seems unlikely to be healthy by that time.

Impact Making his fourth start of July, Gilbert kept San Francisco quiet aside from a Wilmer Flores two-run home run in the third inning. Despite a reasonable 71 pitches through four frames, manager Torey Lovullo opted to turn to the bullpen with the top of the Giants' lineup due to bat a third time in the fifth inning. The 28-year-old has pitched well this month to the tune of a 2.95 ERA across 18.1 innings while surrendering no more than three runs in any start, however, the lefty remains winless. He carries a 5.24 ERA and 1.25 WHIP into his next start, tentatively scheduled for next week against Cleveland.
