La Stella, Longoria homer to back latest Webb win for Giants

Tommy La Stella hit a two-run homer in the first inning to back Logan Webb’s sixth straight win, and the San Francisco Giants beat the fading New York Mets 3-2

Moves to 60-day IL Beede (back) was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento and placed on the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Impact Beede was placed on the injured list at Triple-A with lower-back pain last week, and the move to the 60-day injured list will end his season. The right-hander will have nearly six months to get healthy before the start of spring training in February.

Flores' 3-run homer sends MLB-leading Giants past Rockies

Wilmer Flores hit a three-run homer in the first, Thairo Estrada added an RBI single, and the San Francisco Giants beat the Colorado Rockies 5-4 for their sixth straight win

Dealing with back pain Beede was placed on the injured list Thursday due to lower back pain, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact Beede was placed on the injured list earlier Thursday, though the reason was originally undisclosed. His timeline remains unclear, but he could return by Aug. 19 if he progresses quickly enough. Beede has struggled since being optioned to Triple-A Sacramento, posting a 6.92 ERA and 2.08 WHIP across 13 innings.

Lands on injured list Beede was placed on the 7-day minor-league injured list for an undisclosed reason Thursday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact The Giants are in need of a starter for Saturday's game after Johnny Cueto (elbow) was placed on the 10-day IL on Wednesday, but Beede won't be an option due to his own injury. The 28-year-old had posted a 6.92 ERA and 2.08 WHIP in 13 innings across four starts since he returned to the minors, and it's not yet clear when he could return to action.

Optioned to Triple-A The Giants optioned Beede to Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday.
Impact The righty was likely unavailable Sunday after throwing a three-run inning Saturday, so he goes to Triple-A to make way for a fresh arm in Caleb Baragar. Beede enters the All-Star break having made just one big-league appearance this season, but he figures to play a role for the Giants following the break, be it in the bullpen or the starting rotation.

Allows three runs Saturday Beede allowed three runs on two hits and struck out two in one inning versus Washington on Saturday. He also hit a batter.
Impact Making his first major-league appearance since March 2020 Tommy John surgery, Beede had some struggles with control. He allowed a single to Gerardo Parra and hit Tres Barrera with a pitch before getting his two strikeouts. The right-hander then gave up a triple to Alcides Escobar, who scored on a wild pitch. Beede posted a 6.56 ERA and 1.93 WHIP in 35.2 innings with Triple-A Sacramento while on his rehab assignment, and it may take him some time to settle in at the major-league level. As such, expect the 28-year-old to serve as a bulk reliever or spot starter in the second half of the season.

Activated from IL The Giants reinstated Beede (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.
Impact Working his way back from Tommy John surgery, Beede began his minor-league rehab May 6, totaling 12 appearances with a 6.56 ERA and 40:32 K:BB across 35.2 innings. Per Alex Pavlovic, Beede will be available out of the bullpen starting Tuesday, but could be an option to start Friday against Washington depending on how the San Francisco pitching staff stands after the next couple games.

Roughed up in latest rehab outing Beede (elbow) gave up five runs (one earned) on five hits and three walks while striking out three in three innings in his most recent rehab start Monday at Triple-A Sacramento.
Impact Beede, who is returning from March 2020 Tommy John surgery, has now made 10 rehab appearances for Sacramento. Though he appears to be sufficiently built up for starting duty -- he tossed 83 pitches Monday -- Beede's poor results during the rehab assignment may take him out of consideration for joining the big-league rotation once he's activated from the 60-day injured list. Across 27.1 innings at Triple-A this season, Beede has posted a 7.84 ERA, 1.87 WHIP and 32:25 K:BB.
