World Series champion Braves set roster for title defense
The World Series champion Atlanta Braves are carrying three catchers on their opening day roster

Earns spot on Opening Day roster
Davidson will make Atlanta's Opening Day roster, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Davidson was competing for a spot in Atlanta's rotation, but it appears he'll work out of the bullpen and as a potential sixth starter. Spencer Strider is expected to fill a similar role, which means Kyle Wright should open the campaign as the No. 5 starter. Wright has a 6.56 ERA over 70 big-league innings, so Davidson and Strider could still receive more starting opportunities if Wright doesn't fare better in 2022.

Making case for rotation spot
Davidson struck out four batters over three perfect innings in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Twins.
Impact
Facing something very close to Minnesota's Opening Day lineup, Davidson went nine up and nine down, with his strikeout victims including Gary Sanchez, Miguel Sano and Alex Kirilloff. Davidson has looked very good to begin spring training, posting an 8:0 K:BB through his first five innings, and after getting his first taste of success in the majors at the end of the 2021 campaign, the southpaw could be emerging from the pack of younger arms competing for a spot at the back of Atlanta's Opening Day rotation.

Starting Game 5
Davidson will start Game 5 of the World Series on Sunday.
Impact
Davidson was added to the World Series roster to replace Charlie Morton (lower leg) and will be making his postseason debut. The lefty impressed in four starts this regular season, totaling 20 innings and striking out 18 while managing a 3.60 ERA and 1.15 WHIP. Manager Brian Snitker will certainly have Davidson on a short leash, especially with Drew Smyly rested and available to provide length out of the bullpen if needed.

Added to World Series roster
Davidson (forearm) was added to Atlanta's World Series roster Wednesday.
Impact
Davidson sustained a forearm injury since mid-June and was unable to return to game action during the second half of the season, but he began a rehab assignment in early October. The southpaw generated a 3.60 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in 20 innings across four major-league starts during the regular season and should be in the mix to serve as a starter in the World Series after Charlie Morton (lower leg) was removed from the roster.
