Traded for Iglesias The Angels acquired Davidson and Jesse Chavez from Atlanta on Tuesday in exchange for closer Raisel Iglesias, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Impact The left-hander was one of Atlanta's top prospects and has a 6.46 ERA across 15.1 innings in the majors this season, and he's now been shipped to an Angels club in rebuilding mode. Davidson should have a more direct path to the majors with the Angels with the team out of contention and with the team having a spot in the rotation available following Tuesday's deal that sent Noah Syndergaard to the Phillies.

Impact Though Davidson limited the Marlins to one run over five innings in a losing effort in his third start of the season Saturday, he issued four free passes for the second outing in a row. Overall, Davidson has walked 13 batters and struck out 10 over 15.1 big-league innings this season, so Atlanta will likely want to have him iron out his control problems in the minors before giving him another look. Atlanta hasn't announced an immediate replacement in the rotation for Davidson, with reliever Spencer Strider and Triple-A starters Kyle Muller, Huascar Ynoa, Bryce Elder and Touki Toussaint all representing possible options to take over as the big club's No. 5 starter.

Shaky control in second loss Davidson (1-2) took the loss Saturday as Atlanta was downed 4-1 by the Marlins, allowing one run on three hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out three.

Impact The lefty tossed 47 of 77 pitches for strikes but once again had trouble putting hitters away, issuing four free passes for the second straight start. Davidson has a 4.26 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and brutal 8:11 K:BB through 12.2 innings over three outings since joining the rotation, and he won't keep that assignment much longer if he can't sharpen his control.

Tosses five scoreless frames Davidson (1-0) earned the win during Tuesday's 3-0 shutout of Milwaukee, allowing three hits and three walks with three strikeouts in five scoreless innings.

Impact Making his first start and second appearance of 2022, Davidson spread the damage relatively evenly across his five innings and was never in any real danger. On the downside, the 26-year-old only tossed 38 of 69 pitches for strikes with seven of the swinging variety and he's now walked five total batters in 7.2 innings. It's unclear if Davidson did enough to earn a second turn in the rotation.

Called up ahead of start Atlanta recalled Davidson from Triple-A Gwinnett ahead of his scheduled start Tuesday in Milwaukee, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Impact Reliever Tyler Matzek (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day injured list to clear a spot on the 26-man active roster for Davidson, who will be joining Atlanta for the second time this season. After making the big club out of spring training as the club's fifth starter, Davidson was pummeled for five earned runs over 2.2 innings when he was needed for a long-relief appearance April 11 against the Nationals. He was then optioned to Gwinnett, where he's proceeded to make regular starts while turning in a 4.44 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and a 34:9 K:BB across 26.1 innings. The defending champions will hope Davidson can bring some stability to the back end of the rotation, which has been a major trouble spot for Atlanta early in 2022.
