Acquired by Padres Rosenthal was traded from the Royals to the Padres on Saturday in exchange for Edward Olivares and one other player, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

Impact Rosenthal had a rough season in 2019, but he turned things around to begin the season as he converted on each of his seven save opportunities while posting a 3.29 ERA and 1.17 WHIP over 13.2 innings. The right-hander could claim the closing duties from Emilio Pagan in San Diego since Pagan has had some struggles this season. Greg Holland or Josh Staumont could be options to take over ninth-inning duties with the Royals.

Picks up seventh save Rosenthal worked around a hit in a scoreless ninth inning against the Cardinals on Tuesday en route to his seventh save of the season. He struck out two batters.

Impact Rosenthal was back where it all started for him in St. Louis, and he made things very interesting by allowing a one-out triple and then plunking Kolten Wong. However, Rosenthal buckled down and retired Tommy Edman and Paul Goldschmidt to shut the door. He now has a 1.46 ERA and it sounds like Rosenthal is one of the more likely relievers to be traded by this year's deadline, with Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reporting that "many" people around baseball expect him to be moved.
