Crazy 8: Mariners extend streak on bittersweet day SEATTLE -- Logan Gilbert maybe didn’t have his best stuff on Sunday, but he felt that he “had enough to keep us in the game,” one that the M...

Raimel Tapia - Hits fourth homer Tapia went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Mariners.
Impact Tapia went deep off Mariners starter Logan Gilbert in the fourth inning. This was Tapia's first homer since June 20 and his fourth long ball of the season. The outfielder hasn't post a hitting streak of more than three games since a nine-game stretch between June 11 and June 21. He's logged a solid .263/.289/.375 slash line with 22 RBI, 25 runs scored, four stolen bases and 14 doubles through 245 plate appearances, primarily serving as a reserve outfielder.

George Springer - Goes deep again Springer went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and two total runs scored in Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Mariners.
Impact Springer looks to be slowly getting back on track with homers in each of the last two games. He's gone 4-for-14 with two long balls and two doubles in his last three games, and Sunday's multi-hit effort was his first since June 13. The outfielder has 17 homers, 40 RBI, 50 runs scored, eight stolen bases and a .250/.331/.490 slash line through 329 plate appearances.

Bo Bichette - Homers in three-hit game Bichette went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Mariners.
Impact Bichette saw a 13-game hitting streak end Saturday, but he was right back at it Sunday with his fourth three-hit game this season. He hit a two-run single in the fifth inning and a go-ahead solo shot in the seventh, but the Blue Jays fell short in the end. The shortstop has gone 13-for-45 (.289) in July, and he's up to a .259/.301/.430 slash line with 14 homers, 48 RBI, 47 runs scored and five stolen bases through 86 games overall.

Max Castillo - Solid in spot start Castillo allowed three runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk with three strikeouts in 4.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Mariners on Sunday.
Impact Castillo performed well despite pitching on two days rest after his relief outing July 7. He allowed a solo home run to Carlos Santana in the second inning, and the Mariners were able to scrape together two more runs in the fifth after an error by Vladimir Guerrero. This was Castillo's longest outing in the majors this year, and he may be a candidate to stretch out as a starter with Yusei Kikuchi (neck) out. Castillo owns a 2.30 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 18:3 K:BB across 15.2 major-league innings. The Blue Jays' fifth-starter spot comes up in the rotation next weekend in a home series against the Royals.

Carlos Santana plays the hero again as Mariners sweep Blue Jays for eighth consecutive win SEATTLE — When the Mariners acquired Carlos Santana on June 27 from the Royals, it seemed like a move made out of desperation.
