Chris Owings - Promotion official The Pirates selected Owings' contract from Triple-A Indianapolis ahead of Monday's game against the Rockies.
Impact Pittsburgh optioned Mark Mathias to Triple-A to clear a spot on the active roster for Owings, who submitted a .883 OPS over 50 plate appearances at Indianapolis. The 31-year-old has seen action at three infield spots as well as center field at Triple-A this season and should serve in a utility role while he's up with Pittsburgh.

Mark Mathias - Optioned to Triple-A Mathias was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis by the Pirates on Monday, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports.
Impact Mathias is giving way to fellow utility player Chris Owings. He's managed just a .695 OPS in 15 games with the Bucs this season.
