Shane Bieber - Signs $6 million deal Bieber and the Guardians agreed to a one-year, $6 million contract Tuesday, avoiding arbitration, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
Impact Bieber will make nearly 10 times what he made last season in his first year of arbitration eligibility. Shoulder issues limited him to 16 starts last season, but he excelled when available, riding a 33.1 percent strikeout rate to a 3.17 ERA.

Taylor Hearn - Gets contract for '22 Hearn and the Rangers agreed Tuesday on a one-year, $1.05 million deal to avoid arbitration, Robyn Hearn of NewsChannel 6 Wichita Falls reports.
Impact The news of Hearn's deal with Texas was broken by his sister, Robyn. The Rangers cycled through a number of traditional starters and primary pitchers out of the bullpen in 2021, with Hearn proving to be one of the more reliable options. He covered 104.1 innings in total over his 42 outings (11 starts), going 6-6 while producing a 4.66 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 92:42 K:BB. While those numbers aren't outstanding, Hearn at least appears to be penciled into a rotation spot to begin the 2022 season, which is enough to make him a draftable option in AL-only leagues.

Willie Calhoun - Reaches deal with Texas Calhoun and the Rangers agreed Tuesday on a one-year, $1.3 million contract to avoid arbitration, Kiley McDaniel of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Calhoun's lack of defensive utility and poor track record of durability over the past two seasons were likely prominent factors in him securing only a modest payout in his first year of salary arbitration. Coming off a 2021 season in which he hit .250 with six home runs over 284 plate appearances, Calhoun is expected to serve as the Rangers' primary starting designated hitter against right-handed pitching during the upcoming season.

Mitch Garver - Avoids arbiter with new team Garver and the Rangers agreed to terms on a one-year, $3.335 million deal Tuesday, Kiley McDaniel of ESPN.com reports.
Impact The agreement means Garver won't have to go through the arbitration process with his new team. He'll receive a raise of roughly $1.5 million in his second season of arbitration eligibility after a season in which he hit .256/.358/.517 with 13 homers in just 68 games.

Josh Naylor - Won't need arbitration hearing Naylor (lower leg) and the Guardians agreed Tuesday on a one-year, $1.2 million contract to avoid arbitration, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
Impact Naylor is reportedly making good progress in his recovery from July 3 surgery to address fractures and ligament damage in his right leg, but he's not expected to be cleared for Opening Day. Once he completes his rehab program and is able to play a few games in the minor leagues, Naylor should eventually settle into a strong-side platoon role for the Guardians at either corner-outfield spot, first base or designated hitter. Before sustaining the season-ending leg injury, Naylor supplied a .700 OPS in 249 plate appearances for Cleveland in 2021.

Franmil Reyes - Avoids arbitration Tuesday Reyes agreed Tuesday with the Guardians on a one-year, $4.55 million contract to avoid arbitration, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
Impact Reyes was in his first year of arbitration following a 2021 season in which he hit .254 with 30 home runs and 85 RBI across 466 plate appearances. The Guardians plan to expose him to more work in right field during spring training, but he's still expected to see the bulk of his starts as a designated hitter in 2022.
