Max Scherzer - Slated for bullpen session Friday Scherzer (shoulder) said Thursday that he's "turned a corner" and plans to throw a bullpen session Friday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact Scherzer received a nerve injection for his right shoulder which has helped him take a step forward in his recovery. He will have gone two weeks without any throwing, so the veteran right-hander will need a little time to be built back up. A clearer timetable for Scherzer's return could be available in the coming days.

Liam Hendriks - Beginning assignment Sunday Hendriks (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment Sunday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Impact Hendriks has spent the entire season on the injured list working his way back from Tommy John surgery, and he's now been cleared to return to a competitive setting after throwing several rounds of live batting practice. Manager Alex Cora said the goal will be for the 35-year-old reliever to throw seven innings in the minors before returning from the IL.

Impact It's the first day he's eligible for activation from the COVID-19 injured list. Criswell is poised to serve as the Red Sox' No. 5 starter indefinitely after James Paxton went down with a likely season-ending calf injury.
