Undergoes season-ending surgery Piscotty underwent successful wrist surgery Friday. He will miss the remainder of the season.
Impact The club announced Thursday that the outfielder would have the procedure done, and now Oakland has confirmed that it will end his season. Piscotty was enduring a rough season, during which he slashed .220/.282/.353 while becoming an afterthought in the Athletics' outfield. While there may be hope that repairing his wrist could lead to a resurgence in production next season, it's hard to predict if Piscotty will have any sort of substantial role with the A's in 2022.

Set to undergo surgery Piscotty will undergo surgery on his left wrist Friday, Shayna Rubin of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Impact This was always a potential outcome for Piscotty, as he was set to see a specialist with the expectation that the recommendation would be surgery. The team has not officially ruled Piscotty out for the season, but it's likely that his season is over. If that's the case, he'll finish the campaign with a .220/.282/.353 line across 188 plate appearances.

Visit with specialist on tap Athletics team trainer Nick Paparesta said Sunday that Piscotty is scheduled to visit a wrist specialist next week, and the "anticipation" is that the outfielder will require surge...
Impact According to Martin Gallegos of MLB.com, Piscotty has already received two cortisone shots this season to address lingering pain in his sprained left wrist, but after he was moved to the injured list earlier in the weekend, the 30-year-old could be seeking a more permanent fix for the injury. A timeline for Piscotty's return won't be formally established until he does in fact have surgery, but any procedure would likely keep him on the shelf for the remainder of the season. With Ramon Laureano suspended for the rest of the campaign and Piscotty's status in doubt, Seth Brown should have a decent amount of security as the Athletics' primary option in right field.

May require surgery Manager Bob Melvin said Saturday that it's "very possible" that Piscotty (wrist) could require surgery, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Impact Piscotty was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left wrist sprain Saturday, and Melvin revealed that the issue is something the outfielder has dealt with throughout the season. Seth Brown should see the majority of playing time in right field while Piscotty is sidelined, and the 30-year-old will likely miss extended time if he ultimately undergoes surgery.

Lands on injured list Piscotty was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left wrist sprain Saturday.
Impact The 30-year-old didn't appear in either of the last two games, and he's apparently dealing with a wrist injury that will force him to miss at least 10 days. Seth Brown was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas to fill in as an outfielder in Piscotty's absence.

Sitting against lefty Piscotty is not starting Friday against the Giants, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact Piscotty had been receiving semi-consistent starts against left-handers, but Chad Pinder's (hamstring) return from the injured list will keep him on the bench against Alex Wood on Friday. With Pinder back in the fold and the Athletics having a plethora of other outfield options, the struggling Piscotty seems unlikely to receive many starts during the season's final weeks.

Peters hits 2 HRs, Allard ends skid as Rangers beat A's 7-4

Rookie DJ Peters connected on a pair of two-run homers, and the Texas Rangers beat the Oakland Athletics 7-4

Not in Friday's lineup Piscotty isn't starting Friday's game against the Rangers.
Impact Piscotty could see a slight uptick in playing time since Ramon Laureano was suspended 80 games Friday after testing positive for Nandrolone, a performance-enhancing substance. However, the 30-year-old will remain out of the lineup for a seventh straight game, as Mark Canha will shift to right field while Josh Harrison starts in left.

Season-long struggles continue Piscotty, who went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI over his last two games, is nevertheless hitting just .143 with five strikeouts over the 14 plate appearances he's logged in his...
Impact The veteran outfielder owns an abysmal .203/.263/.348 slash line for the season, so the recent rough patch is no outlier. Piscotty has only 13 extra-base hits as well, and after profiling as an above-average contact hitter over his first five big-league campaigns, he owns an elevated 28.7 percent strikeout rate since the beginning of last season.

Goes deep in extra innings Piscotty went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer in Saturday's win over the Rangers.
Impact Piscotty, who entered the game as a pinch-hitter in the 10th inning, put the game away in the 11th with his two-run blast off Texas reliever Spencer Patton. It was the fifth homer of the year for Piscotty, who has just a .635 OPS in 157 plate appearances this season.

Starting against right-hander Piscotty is in the starting lineup Wednesday against the Astros and right-hander Luis Garcia, Shayna Rubin of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Impact Piscotty received limited opportunities against right-handers prior to landing on the IL with a sprained wrist in mid-June. With Mark Canha (hip) and Mitch Moreland on the injured list, and Seth Brown producing little at the plate, Piscotty could be in line for more starts against righties in coming days.
JULY 7, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Doubles in IL return Piscotty (wrist) went 1-for-2 with a double and a run in a loss to the Astros on Tuesday.
Impact Piscotty made his first appearance since being activated from the injured list Sunday, and he immediately jumped back into the swing of things. The veteran had been running hot at the plate before his injury -- he'd slashed .333/.357/.407 over the 12 games prior -- and Tuesday's production may be a sign the down time didn't necessarily cool him off.
JULY 7, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Draws start Tuesday Piscotty is starting in right field and batting eighth Tuesday against the Astros, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact Piscotty was activated from the injured list Sunday after missing just under three weeks with a sprained left wrist. The veteran outfielder figures to receive regular starts against left-handers at least until Mark Canha (hip) is ready to be activated. Piscotty served in the short side of a right-field platoon with Seth Brown prior to the injury, but with Brown continuing to hit below .200, he could also receive some looks against right-handers going forward.
