Dakota Hudson - Rehab starting Saturday Hudson (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with Low-A Palm Beach on Saturday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Impact Hudson is working his way back from Tommy John surgery, a procedure he underwent in late September of last year. He's expected to throw 30 pitchers Saturday, so he still has a way to go before he's ready to return to the active roster, but it looks like he has a chance to do so in some capacity, which would be something of a surprise given that most pitchers take over a year to return from the procedure.

Gregory Polanco - On bench Friday Polanco will sit Friday against the Cardinals, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.
Impact Polanco remains with the team after passing through waivers earlier in the week and should still see plenty of starts down the stretch. He'll sit against lefty J.A. Happ on Friday, his second time out of the lineup in four days. Yoshi Tsutsugo (who bats left-handed, just like Polanco) will be the right fielder in his absence.

Bryan Reynolds - Resting Friday Reynolds will sit Friday against the Cardinals, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.
Impact Reynolds' season has been a very successful one overall, as he's bounced back from a poor 2020 campaign to hit .300/.381/.518 with a career-high 21 homers. He's been in a bit of a slump over his last 12 games, though, hitting just .209/.271/.302. He'll get the day off Friday, with Ben Gamel starting in center field.

Andrew Miller - Rocky road in August Miller has pitched to a 10.50 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 1.5 HR/9 across the six innings covering his last six appearances.
Impact The sample covers all but one of Miller's August appearances and represents a notable downturn for the veteran left-hander, who's been progressively phased out of later-inning high-leverage opportunities as the season has gone on. Miller has just four holds in 2021, which ranks as his fewest in a non-shortened season in which he wasn't operating as a full-time closer since 2013.

Paul DeJong - Remains on bench DeJong will sit Friday against the Pirates, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Impact DeJong finds himself on the bench for the second game in a row and the fourth time in six games. His .674 OPS on the season, a near match for his .671 mark from last year, doesn't exactly make a strong case for everyday at-bats. Edmundo Sosa, whose .716 OPS isn't particularly good, either, will receive another start at shortstop.
