Jordan Hicks - Bullpen session on tap Hicks (neck/arm) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Friday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
Impact The right-hander played catch from 150 feet Tuesday and Wednesday, clearing the way for him to advance to mound work. Assuming all goes well Friday, Hicks is then expected to throw another bullpen session Sunday in hopes of returning from the injured list next week.

Tyler O'Neill - May not return for postseason Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak acknowledged Tuesday that he's uncertain whether O'Neill (hamstring) will return from the 10-day injured list during the team's upcoming pos...
Impact O'Neill was expected to be in store for a brief stint on the IL after he was diagnosed with a Grade 1 left hamstring strain Sept. 17, but Mozeliak's comments would seem to suggest the outfielder's return isn't imminent. According to Katie Woo of The Athletic, O'Neill has been hitting in the cage this week and began linear running exercises Wednesday, but he likely won't return before the end of the regular season, and his playoff availability also remains in question. Dylan Carlson has settled in as the Cardinals' primary center fielder while O'Neill has been on the shelf.

Juan Yepez - Moving into regular role Yepez will start at third base and bat cleanup in Wednesday's game against the Brewers, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
Impact Though he'll be filling in for a resting Nolan Arenado on Wednesday, Yepez looks to have established himself as a near-everyday player in left field or at designated hitter as the regular season winds down. Playing time could be tougher to come by whenever Tyler O'Neill (hamstring) is activated from the injured list, but Yepez's recent form gives him a good chance at sticking around as a lineup regular over Corey Dickerson. Since his Sept. 19 call-up, Yepez has gone 7-for-18 with a pair of extra-base hits and a walk in six games. Meanwhile, Dickerson enters Wednesday's game in the midst of an 0-for-21 run over his past eight contests.

Dylan Carlson - Recaptures regular role Carlson will start in right field and bat second in Wednesday's game against the Brewers, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
Impact Carlson will stay in the lineup for the fifth game in a row after going 5-for-17 with four doubles, four runs and an RBI over the prior four contests. So long as Tyler O'Neill (hamstring) is stuck on the injured list, Carlson looks like he'll have a clear path to an everyday role in the outfield.

Lars Nootbaar - Gets Wednesday off Nootbaar is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
Impact Nootbaar is one of several Cardinals regulars getting the day off for the series finale after St. Louis clinched the National League Central title with a 6-2 win Tuesday. Ben DeLuzio will take Nootbaar's spot in the outfield, manning center while batting ninth.
