Reds notes: The adjustments Vladimir Gutierrez is making heading into the second half Vladimir Gutierrez will be the Reds fifth starter going forward. Here's what he's doing to take the next step.
JULY 24, 2021 CINCINNATI.COM
Jack Flaherty - Rehab begins Tuesday Flaherty (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Memphis, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Impact Flaherty has been out since the end of May with a strained left oblique. He'll likely need multiple rehab outings given the length of his absence. If he makes just two rehab starts, he could be back late in the first week of August, but if he needs three, he'll likely return sometime in the second week of the month. He'll be limited to 40-to-45 pitches Tuesday, per Zachary Silver of MLB.com, which suggests three rehab starts may be more likely unless the Cardinals bring him back on a pitch count after two rehab outings.

Andrew Miller - Solid in July Miller, who fired a scoreless two-thirds of an inning during which he allowed two hits and recorded a strikeout in a loss to the Reds on Friday, has a 2.45 ERA and two holds across...
Impact The veteran left-hander had a nice 10-day layoff in conjunction with the All-Star break, since his last first-half appearance came July 9. With 24 trips to the mound this season, Miller is nowhere near the 73-appearance pace he enjoyed in 2019, a drop which has helped lead to a modest four holds and zero decisions thus far on the campaign.
JULY 24, 2021 ROTOWIRE
Giovanny Gallegos - Drops third decision Gallegos (5-3) was charged with the loss in Friday's defeat at the hands of the Reds, allowing an unearned run on a hit and a walk over one inning.
Impact Charged with preserving a 5-5 tie when he entered in the eighth inning, Gallegos hurt his own cause immediately by allowing a leadoff single and committing a throwing error before ultimately surrendering what would prove to be a game-winning sacrifice fly. Despite getting dinged with the loss, Gallegos still owns an impressive 2.65 ERA and 0.69 WHIP across 43 appearances, although he's now allowed seven runs (six earned) over his last nine innings.
JULY 24, 2021 ROTOWIRE
Andrew Knizner - Productive in spot start Knizner went 2-for-4 with a two-run ground-rule double and a run in a loss to the Reds on Friday.
Impact The reserve backstop made his first game appearance since July 7, and he came through with his first multi-hit effort since May 30. Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Knizner will draw a second straight start behind the dish Saturday due to Yadier Molina's ongoing neck stiffness.
JULY 24, 2021 ROTOWIRE
Yadier Molina - Riding pine Saturday Molina isn't starting Saturday's game against the Reds. Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports Molina is suffering from neck stiffness, which also led to his absence...
Impact Molina has gone 2-for-12 with a run, an RBI, a walk and three strikeouts across his last three appearances, and he'll retreat to the bench for a second straight game. Andrew Knizner will start behind the dish and bat eighth.
