Impact Rodriguez is about three months removed from arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder and could potentially become a bullpen option for the Cardinals sometime in August. The initial timetable called for him to miss 4-to-6 months.

Jake Woodford - Advances to mound work Woodford (shoulder) is slated to throw a bullpen session Saturday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Impact Woodford resumed throwing on flat ground earlier this month and is now ready to advance to mound work. The 26-year-old swingman has been limited to six starts and six relief appearances this season with the Cardinals due to multiple shoulder injuries, but he could be an important factor down the stretch if St. Louis moves multiple pitchers ahead of the Aug. 1 trade deadline.

Ryan Helsley - Bullpen session coming Saturday Helsley (forearm) will throw another bullpen session Saturday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Impact Helsley began throwing off a mound July 19 before moving to the 60-day IL on Monday, so he won't be able to return for at least another two weeks. If everything goes well Saturday, Helsley could soon progress to facing live hitters.

Tommy Edman - Rehab assignment Saturday Edman (wrist) is scheduled to begin a minor-league rehab assignment Saturday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Impact Edman resumed taking live at-bats earlier this week and his sore right wrist has apparently responded well. Out since July 7, the 28-year-old super-utilityman should be back on the Cardinals' active roster by the middle of next week if all goes smoothly on the farm.

Druw Jones - Goes to 60-day IL Single-A Visalia transferred Jones (hamstring) from the 7-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Tuesday.

Impact Jones hasn't played for Visalia since April 19 due to a quadriceps strain but was cleared to begin a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on June 13. However, he lasted just four games in the ACL before succumbing to a right hamstring strain and being pulled off the assignment. The Diamondbacks have yet to announce a timeline for Jones, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 First-Year Player Draft, to return to action.
