Impact Strider's rookie breakout continued with his second double-digit strikeout game of the season and arguably his best overall performance to date in the big leagues. He induced a whopping 24 swinging strikes on 93 pitches, and Cincinnati was only able to scratch a run across after a hit-by-pitch, a wild pitch and a single. Strider had a recent bump in the road against San Francisco (six earned runs in 3.2 innings), but he's flashing frontline starter potential.

Bounces back Sunday Strider pitched six shutout innings Sunday versus the Dodgers, allowing five hits while striking out seven and walking none in a no-decision.
Impact Strider was tagged for six runs by the Giants in his last start, but he bounced back with an excellent performance against one of the National League's top teams. The rookie right-hander submitted his longest start of the year, throwing 64 of 95 pitches for strikes while keeping runs off the board for the second time in six starts since he joined the rotation. He owns a 3.02 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 79:22 K:BB through 53.2 innings overall. Strider is expected to make his next start on the road in Cincinnati next weekend.

Impact Strider struggled against a veteran Giants team that chased him after only 3.2 innings. He had previously been effective for the Braves since being moved to the rotation last month, and he came in to face the Giants fresh off of an 11-strikeout performance against the Nationals on June 16th. Strider has electric stuff, including a fastball which averages 98 mph, but it remains to be seen if his mainly two-pitch repertoire (fastball-slider) will play as a starter over the long term. He will look to bounce back in his next start which tentatively lines up for Sunday at home against the Dodgers.

Impact This was Strider's best start of his career, as he tied his career high with 5.2 innings and blew past his previous career high of eight strikeouts. He topped out at 100.9 mph and average 98.8 mph with his fastball, which had a 33 percent whiff rate in this outing. His slider registered a 48 percent whiff rate and he threw his third-pitch changeup just four times out of 106 total pitches. Strider has a 1.76 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 24:8 K:BB in 15.1 innings over his last three starts. He may get a pair of starts next week against the Giants and Dodgers, both of which would come at home.
