Will not pitch Sunday Gray will not pitch as scheduled Sunday against the Pirates, instead pitching next week against the Cubs, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

Impact Gray got roughed up by the Cardinals in his last start and his lower half may have been out of sync during his delivery. According to Rosecrans, the veteran right-hander indicated he's healthy and is just receiving some extra rest between starts.

Records only two outs Gray (5-2) was charged with the loss Tuesday against the Cardinals after recording only two outs and giving up six runs on five hits with one strikeout and three walks.

Impact The 30-year-old was unable to make it out of the first inning as he delivered only 17 of his 38 pitches for strikes. Gray entered Tuesday's game with only nine runs allowed through seven starts, but the short outing made a significant dent in his numbers. The right-hander has a 3.19 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 56:18 K:BB through 42.1 innings and will look to get back on track Sunday in Pittsburgh.

Impact It wasn't the best start for the 30-year-old, who had given up one earned run or less in four of his first five starts this season. Even still, Gray whiffed six batters and refrained from serving up any home runs. He left the game with the lead, but unfortunately the bullpen could not hold on. The right-hander currently ranks second in the majors in strikeouts (51) and is tied for third in quality starts (5). Next up, Gray heads to Milwaukee for a Wednesday contest against the Brewers.
