Gets no help in loss Baz (8-9) allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out seven over seven innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Athletics.
Impact Baz had his longest start since he went seven innings July 1 in a start that was also against the A's. The right-hander didn't get any help Tuesday, nor did he do himself any favors by allowing four or more runs for the fourth time in five starts. He's now at a 4.93 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 140:50 K:BB through 135 innings across 24 starts. He's already exceeded the 118.2 innings he had across all levels in 2024, so it's possible the 26-year-old is wearing down a bit. His next start is projected to be at home versus the Yankees.

Goes four innings vs. Angels Baz did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Angels, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks across four innings. He struck out nine.
Impact After holding the Angels scoreless in his first two innings, Baz unraveled with two outs in the third, giving up an RBI single to Nolan Schanuel before Mike Trout launched a game-tying, three-run homer. While Baz has had the strikeout pitch working of late, logging 17 punchouts over nine innings in his last two starts, he's struggled to provide much length -- the right-hander has failed to make it past five innings in any of his previous four outings. Overall, Baz sports a 4.92 with a 1.34 WHIP and 133:48 K:BB across 23 starts (128 innings) this season. He's currently lined up to face the A's on the road his next time out.

Tough sledding in eighth loss Baz (8-8) took the loss Friday against the Dodgers, allowing five runs on eight hits and two walks in five innings. He struck out eight.
Impact Baz at least managed to register 16 whiffs and fan eight to salvage what was an otherwise poor outing overall. The eight hits allowed were one shy of a season worst, and the 26-year-old right-hander walked multiple batters in his fifth straight start. Baz's impressive run to open the campaign is becoming quite a distant memory at this point -- he had posted a 2.45 ERA through April 25 -- and he'll carry a mediocre 4.79 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 124:46 K:BB through 124 frames into a scheduled road tilt against the Angels in Anaheim.

Fans five in loss Baz (8-7) yielded two runs on five hits and two walks over five innings Sunday, striking out five and taking a loss against the Reds.
Impact Baz coughed up a pair of runs in the first inning before settling in to finish his outing with four scoreless frames. He's now lost four consecutive starts, registering a 5.90 ERA during that span. Baz generated 15 swinging strikes on 100 total pitches Sunday, including seven with his fastball that averaged 96.8 mph. He now owns a 4.61 ERA with a 116:44 K:BB through 119 frames. Baz's next outing is projected to be at home against the Dodgers.

Clobbered by White Sox Baz (8-6) conceded eight runs on eight hits and two walks over four innings to take the loss in Monday's contest against the White Sox. He struck out four.
Impact Nothing went right for the Tampa Bay right-hander, as he allowed a career-worst eight earned runs in this 87-pitch disaster. Baz did not have his sharpest stuff, managing to generate just six whiffs. The 26-year-old has been prone to implosions this season, with this marking the sixth time he has allowed five or more runs out of 20 total starts. Baz will carry a 4.66 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 111:42 K:BB across 114 total innings into a dangerous matchup at Cincinnati this weekend.

Takes tough-luck loss Saturday Baz (8-5) completed 6.1 innings, allowing one run on five hits and two walks while striking out three batters in a loss to Boston on Saturday.
Impact Baz was very effective Saturday, allowing just a fourth-inning run despite notching only one 1-2-3 frame. However, opposing hurler Garrett Crochet fired a complete-game shutout, resulting in Baz taking a second consecutive loss. Despite the defeat, this was another strong performance by the right-hander, who has recorded four straight quality starts. He'll head into the All-Star break with a 4.17 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 107:40 K:BB over 110 innings spanning 19 outings.
