Impact With Keegan Thompson (shoulder) set to remain on the injured list to begin the week, Sampson will draw a second straight turn through the rotation. In his most recent outing Sept. 7 against the Reds, Sampson took a loss after giving up two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out two over five innings.

Nico Hoerner - Begins rehab assignment Hoerner (oblique) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa on Sunday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Impact An oblique strain has sidelined Hoerner since late July. He's expected to remain on his rehab assignment at least through Wednesday, at which point the Cubs will assess whether or not he's ready to return.

Austin Slater - Back in action Sunday Slater (concussion) was activated from the 7-day injured list Sunday. He's batting leadoff and playing center field versus the Cubs.
Impact Slater had a minimum stay on the injured list. Prior to his absence, he had gone 4-for-9 with a home run, a double and a stolen base in his three previous games. He'll likely compete with LaMonte Wade and Mike Yastrzemski for playing time in left field and center field going forward.

Wilmer Flores - Activated, starting Sunday Flores (hamstring) was activated from the 10-day injured list Sunday. He's starting at first base and batting sixth versus the Cubs.
Impact Flores missed only a minimal amount of time with a left hamstring strain. While he's starting Sunday, the infielder will likely be utilized in a bench role more often than not going forward, although he could see a short-side platoon role with Tommy La Stella at second base.

Caleb Baragar - Optioned to Triple-A Baragar was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday.
Impact Baragar allowed three runs on five hits and a walk with two strikeouts over 4.2 innings in three appearances during this major-league stint. He also picked up a three-inning save versus the Cubs on Saturday. Baragar and John Brebbia were sent down to allow the Giants to activate Wilmer Flores (hamstring) and Austin Slater (concussion) from the injured list.
