Randal Grichuk - Smacks fourth homer Grichuk went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Giants.
Impact Grichuk didn't homer at all in June, going just 9-for-50 (.180) over 17 games. The outfielder ended that power drought with a solo shot to pad the Diamondbacks' lead in the sixth inning of this contest. For the year, he's batting .246 with a .721 OPS, four homers, 16 RBI, 21 runs scored, 11 doubles and one triple across 146 plate appearances. Grichuk has been pressed into some extra playing time recently while Arizona's primary designated hitter, Pavin Smith, has had to cover for Josh Naylor (undisclosed) at first base. Once Naylor is healthy again, Grichuk will likely return to a short-side platoon role, as Jake McCarthy has stepped up in right field in the absence of Corbin Carroll (wrist).

Jake McCarthy - Swats go-ahead homer McCarthy went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Giants.
Impact McCarthy has hit safely in six straight games, going 6-for-21 (.286) with three extra-base hits in that span. Two of those knocks have been homers, including his go-ahead blast in the fourth inning of Tuesday's win. McCarthy has two homers, eight RBI, six runs scored and two stolen bases over 73 plate appearances, but he's still hitting just .136 overall despite his recent success at the plate.

Zac Gallen - Strikes out 10 in win Gallen (6-9) allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits and struck out 10 without walking a batter over seven innings to earn the win over the Giants on Tuesday.
Impact Gallen had allowed at least four runs in eight of his previous nine starts, pitching to a 6.97 ERA in that span. He was much better Tuesday, overcoming a shaky second inning to put together one of his best starts of the season. Gallen's extended slump is still evident in his 5.45 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 98:42 K:BB through 104 innings, but he could turn things around, as those ratios are the worst of his career. The right-hander will look to build some positive momentum in his next start, tentatively scheduled for this weekend at home versus the Royals.
