Impact Sherriff only needed nine pitches to get through the inning as he generated a groundout and two flyouts to pick up the easy save. The left-hander has not recorded a strikeout across 6.2 innings but still owns a perfect 0.00 ERA as he has induced a lot of light contact to get himself through his outings. Despite the early success and the save chance Friday, Sherriff should still primarily remain as one of the team's middle relievers to finish out the regular season.

Part of the 30-year-old's success has stemmed from his ability to keep the ball down, as he's elicited 11 groundballs from the 20 batters that have made contact against him. Sherriff is likely to continue in a middle-to-later-inning role for the balance of the regular season.

Impact Sherriff made a pair of relief appearances in late August, throwing two scoreless innings. He's no longer needed in the bullpen, as Nick Anderson (forearm) was activated from the injured list in a corresponding move.

Impact Recalled from the alternate training site in Port Charlotte earlier in the day, Sherriff was exceedingly sharp, firing 10 of his 11 pitches for strikes. The southpaw was making his first major-league appearance since 2018 with the Cardinals, and his flawless performance was certainly encouraging from the perspective of evaluating Sherriff's recovery from his 2018 Tommy John surgery. With fellow lefty Jalen Beeks (elbow) now lost for the remainder of the season, Sherriff could hold down a role on the big-league roster the rest of the way.
