Impact Henriquez, whom the Twins acquired in March in the deal that sent catcher Mitch Garver to the Rangers, will reach the big leagues for the first time in his career. The 22-year-old right-hander split time between the rotation and bullpen at Triple-A this season, delivering a 5.66 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 106:33 K:BB across 95.1 innings over his 24 appearances (14 starts). He'll likely serve as a long-relief option for Minnesota.

In extended spring training Henriquez was held back in extended spring training, Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com reports.

Impact Henriquez, who was acquired from Texas in the Mitch Garver trade, logged 93.2 innings across High-A and Double-A last year, so there wouldn't be a workload reason to hold him back. With this in mind, he is likely either injured or working on his mechanics. He should eventually be assigned to Double-A Wichita.

Heads to minors The Twins optioned Henriquez to Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Impact Henriquez was one of six pitchers optioned to minor-league camp as the Twins made their first round of cuts. Acquired earlier this month from the Rangers in the deal that sent Mitch Garver to Texas, Henriquez will move up a level to begin his tenure with a new organization. He split time between Double-A Frisco and High-A Hickory in 2021, compiling a 4.71 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 105:25 K:BB in 93.2 innings between the two stops.

Dealt to Minnesota Henriquez and Isiah Kiner-Falefa were traded from the Rangers to the Twins in exchange for catcher Mitch Garver on Saturday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Impact Henriquez advanced to Double-A Frisco during the 2021 season and recorded a 5.04 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in 69.2 innings across 16 appearances (11 starts). The right-hander will likely begin the 2022 campaign at Double-A Wichita but is a part of the 40-man roster, so he'll have a chance to progress quickly if he performs well early in the year.
