Recalled from Triple-A The Marlins recalled Munoz from Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Impact Munoz will give the Marlins a fresh arm following the trade deadline exodus from their roster. It's not clear whether the team plans to use him as a starter, reliever, or both.
JULY 30, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Sent down to Triple-A The Marlins optioned Munoz to Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday.
Impact Munoz surrendered six runs in five innings during a start against the Orioles on Thursday and was removed from the active roster. Since being recalled June 8, Munoz logged a 5.76 ERA in 45.1 innings for Miami.
JULY 26, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Hit hard by Orioles Munoz allowed six runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three batters over five innings in a no-decision against Baltimore on Thursday.
Impact Munoz struggled to keep the ball in the park Thursday, as three of the six hits against him were homers. He departed with a 6-0 deficit but managed to escape with a no-decision thanks to a late Miami rally. The right-hander entered the contest having not allowed a long ball in three straight outings, though home runs have been an issue for him most of the campaign -- he's yielded multiple homers in six of his 12 outings overall. Munoz has managed to stick in the rotation despite a 5.61 ERA, as Miami doesn't have many other options due to a slew of injuries to its starting staff.
JULY 26, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Stuck with tough loss Munoz (1-5) took the loss Saturday as the Marlins fell 1-0 to the Mets, allowing one run on three hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out five.
Impact The rookie right-hander tossed 44 of 74 pitches for strikes in one of his best big-league outings to date, but the Miami offense gave him no support at all. Munoz's control remains an issue -- he's issued multiple walks in six straight outings, stumbling to a 5.64 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 20:17 K:BB through 30.1 innings over that stretch. The Marlins have little choice but to leave him in their injury-ravaged rotation however, and Munoz is scheduled to make his next start at home next week against the Orioles.
JULY 21, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Takes fourth loss Munoz (1-4) was charged with the loss against the Astros on Thursday, allowing six runs (four earned) on five hits and two walks over 6.2 innings while striking out two.
Impact The Astros were able to get to Munoz early, tagging him for runs in four of his first five innings of work, though only four of the six runs that came across would be charged to the right-hander. The 24-year-old then went on to retire six consecutive batters to close out his night, before being relieved by Andrew Nardi with two outs in the seventh. Munoz has now surrendered multiple runs and two or more walks in five consecutive outings (though he came out in relief in his previous outing) and hasn't picked up a win since May 1 against the Rockies.
JULY 12, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Returning to starting role Thursday Munoz is slated to start Thursday's game against the Astros in Houston.
Impact In his last appearance Friday against the White Sox, Munoz piggybacked starter Bryan Hoeing for four innings, giving up two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out two batters over his 87 pitches. Both Munoz and Hoeing will get their own starts this week, as Hoeing is slated to toe the rubber Wednesday while Munoz gets the ball for the series finale. Munoz holds a 5.48 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 40:24 K:BB through 44.1 innings in the majors this season.
JULY 7, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Shifts to relief role Munoz gave up two runs on four hits and four walks over four innings of relief in Friday's 3-2 loss to the White Sox. He struck out two.
Impact The rookie right-hander was deployed as the back half of a tandem with Bryan Hoeing, who came off the IL on Friday and took the loss during a game in which Miami never led. Munoz's control remains an issue, and he's walked multiple batters in seven of his nine big-league appearances so far, leading to a 5.48 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 40:24 K:BB over 44.1 innings. It's not clear how the Marlins plan to use Munoz from here, but if he remains on turn he would next take the mound on the road next week in Houston, either as a starter or bulk reliever.

Solid in no-decision Munoz came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Phillies, giving up two runs on five hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out four.
Impact The rookie right-hander exited the game after 79 pitches (50 strikes) in line for his fourth loss, despite the fact the Munoz allowed fewer than three runs for only the second time in his last six starts. A late rally by the Marlins took him off the hook, however. Munoz will take a 5.58 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 38:20 K:BB through 40.1 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next weekend against the White Sox.
JUNE 30, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
In line to start Saturday Munoz is likely to be recalled to start Saturday versus the Guardians, Nate Karzmer of the Fish Unfiltered podcast reports.
Impact Karzmer dropped the news following an interview with Marlins manager Skip Schumaker, although it's not clear whether Schumaker is the one who tipped Karzmer off. It's the rotation spot vacated by the injured Sixto Sanchez (shoulder). Munoz has collected a 5.17 ERA and 19:7 K:BB over 15.2 innings covering three starts with the Marlins this season.
JUNE 6, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Joins Washington Washington claimed Munoz off waivers from Atlanta on Monday and optioned him to Triple-A Rochester.
Impact Before designating Munoz for assignment last week, Atlanta appeared to have abandoned the idea of developing the right-hander as a starter, as he was deployed in relief in all but four of his 22 appearances with Triple-A Gwinnett, Double-A Mississippi and the rookie-level Florida Complex League this season while pitching to a 3.89 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 40:27 K:BB across 39.1 innings. The 23-year-old boasts a mid-90s fastball and a plus slider, and that two-pitch mix could be enough for him to emerge as a useful relief prospect down the road. Though he'll stay at the Triple-A level with his new organization, Munoz should at least have an easier pathway to reaching the big leagues with Washington.
JULY 17, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Designated for assignment Atlanta designated Munoz for assignment Thursday.
Impact After putting up a 4.28 ERA and 1.55 WHIP through 27.1 frames to begin the season in Triple-A Gwinnett, Munoz will be cast off Atlanta's 40-man roster. The move makes room for Lucas Luetge, who was selected to Atlanta's active roster from Gwinnett on Thursday. It's possible Munoz is claimed by another team looking for bullpen help, but he now appears in line to finish 2023 in the minors.
JULY 13, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Sent back to Triple-A Atlanta optioned Munoz to Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday.
Impact Munoz was only up in Atlanta's bullpen for a couple of days and did not make an appearance. The 23-year-old right-hander has posted a 4.94 ERA and 24:20 K:BB in 27.1 innings this season between Double-A and Triple-A.

JUNE 6, 2023 • DEADSPIN.COM
Officially added to roster Munoz was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.
Impact Munoz has just a 4.63 ERA and 21:16 K:BB across 23.1 innings at Gwinnett this season, but he yielded only one run with a 14:7 K:BB over his last 11 frames. He'll be making his major-league debut when he gets into a game.
JUNE 6, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Set to join big-league bullpen Atlanta plans to promote Munoz from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday, Hector Gomez of Z101Digital.com reports.
Impact Munoz will be added to the 26-man active roster shortly before Tuesday's game against the Mets as a replacement for right-hander Michael Soroka, who was optioned to Gwinnett on Monday. With top pitching prospect AJ Smith-Shawver likely to move from the bullpen to take over Soroka's spot in the rotation, Munoz will fill the opening in Atlanta's relief corps. The 23-year-old right-hander will likely be limited to lower-leverage spots initially in his first taste of the big leagues after he compiled a 4.63 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 21:16 K:BB across 23.1 innings at Gwinnett this season.
JUNE 5, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Sent to Triple-A Munoz was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett by Atlanta on Friday.
Impact Munoz has tossed two scoreless innings this spring, but he's in need of more seasoning. The 22-year-old collected a 4.66 ERA between High-A Rome and Double-A Mississippi last season.
